Sheriff? I'd vote him ******** president.
Reading a book by Hunter S. Thomspon, and he is becoming my favorite iconoclast of all time. He symbolizes drugs, anti-authority, guns, and ridiculous hijinks. His writing style is ******** edgy and pure fun, which I can't resist, while constantly digressing into various complaints about society. All his works are somewhat autobiographical/journalism and somewhat fictionalized just to make it better.

You might not find that description entirely endearing, but I found out on Wikipedia that he ran for sheriff of his county once. He was really charismatic and almost won, too. But his platform was ******** awesome. Check it:
-legalization of all drugs
-tearing up sidewalks and parking lots for more grassy areas
-demolishing any buildings tall enough to block the view of the mountains
-renaming Aspen "Fat City" to scare off rich business investor types
-firing the majority of the bureaucrats and county officials

He was up against a Democrat and a Republican candidate, and the Republican had this really short military crew cut thing going on. Mr. Thompson shaved his head and referred to the man as his "long-haired competitor."
Just to add the icing on the cake, someone stole a bunch of dynamite and left a note saying they'd blow up the town if Thompson got elected.

What is just ******** fantastic is that he was leading the election for a long time.

He was beaten because his competitors made a deal to have one of them step down in order to consolidate anti-Thompson votes. Aw, dumb politics.

Anyways I'm reading one of his books and its really swell. None of the libraries had a copy of Fear and Loathingin Las Vegas, so I'm reading... some other one he wrote in his old age? He eventually killed himself, by the way, in 2005. Johnny Depp coordinated his funeral, which involved shooting his ashes out of a canon on some statue/structure built in Thompson's honor for the occasion.



Hunter S. Thompson is really ******** cool, by the way.
