My friend's cat, Peaches, died. I just wanted to submit my condolences, and hope she's moved on.
------------------------------------------------------------
The thing is, her mom didn't even tell her for a whole month, as if that would make things easier. A pet is part of the family, and I hate it when people misunderstand that.
The mom's excuse? -- "I didn't want to upset you."
First of all, putting it off for a month doesn't help ANYTHING. in fact, it makes things quite worse. Second of all, shouldn't you WANT your daughter to have someone to cry on? The fact that she's upset is a bad thing, but you WANT her to mourn about death don't you? Teach that some one's life ending is a BAD thing. We joke about it a lot on the internet and in real life as well, but it's sad. Really, we shouldn't joke about those things. Lastly, my friend has had this cat for a long time. I remember that cat myself, and she was cute. Peaches was a friend, and companion, and she will be missed.
I'm sorry that happened to you. I hope that things will be better.
