Here's wishing everyone a Happy New Year. heart
My Birthday
It was my birthday last week. Hooray! My family and I went to see "King Kong" in the theatres. My dad saw the original when he was a kid (er, but not in the theatres -- he's not that old xd ) and really liked it. We had a bunch of movie tickets, so off we went. whee
My sister gave me "Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories" for a birthday present. whee It's so much fun. I've never played Kingdom Hearts for Playstation, but my Gameboy Advance will do just fine for me. I've watched enough (but not all) Disney movies to understand some of it. I especially like the background music in Atlantica, since it's a instrumental version of "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid. xd heart
Movies
I saw a large amount of movies this holiday season. I see roughly one movie a year normally. In a span of less than 2 weeks, I saw 5. And I mean the ones currently in the theatres, not on TV. O_O
Pride and Prejudice
My best high school friend and I went to see the 2005 version starring Keira Knightley. She and I wrote our high school English essays on the book several years ago, so it was a given that we'd see it together in the theatres. xd
The movie was only two hours long, but it captured everything essential in the book. Very well done and funny. heart
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe
I loved it. whee I'm a fan of the Narnia book series, so I really wanted to see this movie. I saw the BBC series when I was younger, and I also loved those. So seeing it on the big screen made me happy. ^__^ I thought the beginning of the movie was especially well done. The book only has a few sentences about why the Pevensies were sent to the Professor's house, so seeing it on the screen was intriguing. I'm looking forward to the next movies to come out. heart
King Kong
I've never seen the original movie in its entirety, so I came into it with no expectations. I enjoyed it, but I don't like insects. There's a scene on Skull Island where a whole swarm of insects and other creepy crawlies attack the rescue team. Ugh. >__< So gross.
The movie made Kong into a believably human character. (Go Andy Serkis! xd ) Some parts of the movie were odd, and my family talked about it afterward. How did they fit Kong into the boat and keep him contained for so long? Or how did Kong step onto the ice rink without breaking it? The last question led my mom to say, "Besides, the girl [Ann] would catch her death of cold, she's wearing so little clothing". Typical mothers. xd
Brokeback Mountain
I wanted to see this movie ever since I first heard about it. Now I want to read the short story, but I'm not sure where I could get it. gonk The ending was sad, and almost incomplete...but I suppose that's the way it has to be. I'm still thinking about it after it ended, so that's a good sign. whee I want to see it again.
New Year
Didn't do much to celebrate the new year. I went to a high school friend's house, where I saw a lot of my old high school friends again. It was good to see them again. heart
We played Taboo, the board game which is like verbal charades. Basically, you have to get your team to say the word you're trying to describe to them, but you aren't allowed to use a certain list of words printed on the card. If you say one of those forbidden words, you lose a point. The best part was when I had "Journey", and words like "Go", "Quest", and "Trek" were Taboo. So I just blurted "Frodo and company..." and my friend (the one I went to see Pride and Prejudice with) immediately said "Journey!". xd xd We were of course accused of a telepatheic link. ninja
So basically that was my holiday. Term is starting again, so it's back to the grind. Most of my courses are interesting this term. Wish me luck. sweatdrop
