September Notes
Hi, Gaians!
September MC's are out today - I hope everyone's enjoying them. My team and I have been trying to bring back some of the "classic" feel of MC's lately, which I tend to prefer myself, being an oldie. Thanks to everyone for their feedback in GCD and SF - we are always open to suggestions!
I've been really busy at Gaia lately, because I've taken on some additional responsibilities on my team - I am hoping that it will challenge me in new ways and give me different perspectives around the company. I guess you can say that I've been reviewing my ultimate role here at Gaia, and trying to see if there are other ways that I can contribute. I've been here for almost 5 years now, and I admit that sometimes the job is a bit repetitive (but what isn't after so long, right??)
However, I would like to spend a good part of this week fixing glitches, which you all have been passionately sending over! With this said, I'd like to give you all 2 friendly reminders about glitch reporting:
1. Please do not report the same thing twice, in more than one place! I read everything I get, don't worry!
2. I do not handle EI glitches. Please send those directly to the original EI creator. You can find various threads in GCD and in pepper-tea's profile. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Halloween is right around the corner! My team and I will be working hard to bring fun new items for shops and the event. And yes, there will be a store update this month. (Sometimes I see threads saying things like, "we haven't had a store update in ages" .... but we haven't skipped any months this year, save maybe 1-2. sweatdrop ) Please do remember: salon updates do count as store updates!
As for me - honestly, I've been feeling a bit burnt out lately. I think with all the various projects going on, sometimes I am just so tired when I get home, that I just want to veg out - but I try not to, as I usually have side jobs/freelance that I need to work on when I'm home. It's tiresome sometimes, but I like to keep busy, and challenge myself as an artist frequently.
I've been trying to think of ways to communicate more efficiently with the community lately. I know a lot of users feel neglected, which I am sorry for - it's hard for devs to keep up sometimes, with all the various projects going on. And I admit, even I sometimes get a bit demoralized by all the hostility and negativity that's going around, though at the end of the day I feel that feedback is a very important factor at what makes Gaia... well, what it is. I always appreciate the users who are polite and constructive when they are making suggestions and requests, though - psychologically it's much more pleasant to deal with that than general raging. XD;;
Overall though, I think communication is important (in whatever form it may come in), and I hope you all agree with this. With this said, improving communication between users and staff (at least myself, to begin with) is something that I'd like to work on with you all together in 2010. I hope that you will help me in this endeavor in whatever way you can. I also hope that you will also give the same courtesy to the other staff members who are making the same endeavor as I am - we all care about what's going on, and while sometimes situations are too complicated to fix right away, we are always trying hard. I think users are also making the same effort, and that's why we should work together biggrin
On a more personal note: I've been playing "Avalon Code" on the Nintendo DS for an hour or two before I go to bed. I find the premise and the gameplay to be pretty unique, though flipping through the pages gets annoying after a while, especially when the page you're looking for is like, 10-15 pages away from the chapter index =_=;;
I usually watch a lot of movies during the summer, but I haven't been able to find as much time lately. I did, however, see "Inglorious Bastards" the other weekend, and I'd have to say that it's the funniest war movie I've ever seen. "Pulp Fiction" is still my favorite of QT's movies, and "Inglorious Bastards" definitely had his touch. mrgreen I have yet to see Harry Potter though, I better do that soon before it leaves the theaters o3o;;
I will be trying to fix some of the more major glitches for the rest of today, for as long as I can. Thanks to those of you who've been reporting problems regularly, I appreciate it!
