Gold Shop Update Notes + Thoughts
Hello Gaians!
It is already the last day of September... can you believe it? In no time we'll be talking about Christmas presents and New Year's resolutions...
Global Imports and Junk-in-the-Trunk launched today! I am very excited for the creation of these new shops, because a) it finally gives a solid home to ethnic/cultural items, and b) any means of organization means better times for us in the future. 3nodding
I've been spending some time to peruse through the forums today, and a lot of users have been discussing the future of cultural/ethnic updates. Now that there is an official outlet for such items, you can logically deduct that this also means there will be more ethnic/cultural updates in the future. So, those users out there who are "hoping" for more - you no longer have to hope, you just need to sit back and enjoy. XD
Overall, the new way stores have been organized means that we will be change our approach to Gold Shop updates. Most of the time, we plan out a tentative list for the first half of the year, and pick themes arbitrarily based on what we see in forums, what we think is missing, what's appropriate for holidays/seasons, etc.. but now that most of the stores have clear-set themes, this means we can also take the "store-specific" approach - for example, next month we may have a "Moira's Shop Update" or a "Josie's Shop Update." Overall though, this makes it a lot easier to brainstorm items.
The Bakeneko Set also went out today! I am personally very fond of all the colors and the versatility of the ears. Users have been reporting a lot of glitches though, which I've received and will be working on. Thing is, lately we're having a lot of "compatibility" errors with old and new items - their behavior has changed over the years, and sometimes that is the cause of items not working well together.
With this said, I've undertaken a very large project that, if done right, will theoretically fix many glitches at once, rather than me sitting here and fixing each one manually. Thing is, most glitches fall into categories - some are simple layering errors, others just require resaving a graphic. Either way, they still require effort and time to fix, of course... but not if you fix the root of the problem, which is what I am attempting to do. Wish me luck! @_@;;
I think that's all I've got to report for today. I look forward to hearing from you guys about whatever's on your mind, as usual! Please try to be polite, though. XD
