Gold Shop Update Notes + Thoughts
Hello Gaians!

It is already the last day of September... can you believe it? In no time we'll be talking about Christmas presents and New Year's resolutions...

Global Imports and Junk-in-the-Trunk launched today! I am very excited for the creation of these new shops, because a) it finally gives a solid home to ethnic/cultural items, and b) any means of organization means better times for us in the future. 3nodding

I've been spending some time to peruse through the forums today, and a lot of users have been discussing the future of cultural/ethnic updates. Now that there is an official outlet for such items, you can logically deduct that this also means there will be more ethnic/cultural updates in the future. So, those users out there who are "hoping" for more - you no longer have to hope, you just need to sit back and enjoy. XD

Overall, the new way stores have been organized means that we will be change our approach to Gold Shop updates. Most of the time, we plan out a tentative list for the first half of the year, and pick themes arbitrarily based on what we see in forums, what we think is missing, what's appropriate for holidays/seasons, etc.. but now that most of the stores have clear-set themes, this means we can also take the "store-specific" approach - for example, next month we may have a "Moira's Shop Update" or a "Josie's Shop Update." Overall though, this makes it a lot easier to brainstorm items.

The Bakeneko Set also went out today! I am personally very fond of all the colors and the versatility of the ears. Users have been reporting a lot of glitches though, which I've received and will be working on. Thing is, lately we're having a lot of "compatibility" errors with old and new items - their behavior has changed over the years, and sometimes that is the cause of items not working well together.

With this said, I've undertaken a very large project that, if done right, will theoretically fix many glitches at once, rather than me sitting here and fixing each one manually. Thing is, most glitches fall into categories - some are simple layering errors, others just require resaving a graphic. Either way, they still require effort and time to fix, of course... but not if you fix the root of the problem, which is what I am attempting to do. Wish me luck! @_@;;

I think that's all I've got to report for today. I look forward to hearing from you guys about whatever's on your mind, as usual! Please try to be polite, though. XD

I was quite pleased about the new shops, and the new items that went with them! The oriental dresses and shirts were lovely.

And I loved the Bakeneko sets! They just overflow with win. C:

Thanks for the great artwork on the items Juno! I was sad at first because it didn't seem like there was too big of a variety (which was always my favorite part about the halloween updates), but reading through SF I was reminded these type of items (mainly the neko stuff) usually end up in cash shop, so I am very grateful they are in gold shops. ^^

Edit: Any chance we'll get long hair in the salon updates? I remember in the past it was said to be impossible because of layering, but since then we've gotten body length hair in EIs. whee

Also, *nudgenudge*

Thank you for this update. I just can't pick a favorite item. I love them all. This comment would be way too long if I listed off why I love each item.
The new shops are interesting. I have to say that I'm actually very excited for a junk shop item update. :3
And, yikes, good luck. x3

What a great new update! Although many of the items aren't my thing, I know a lot of them have been super-requested and they all look beautiful. I'm loving the boleros in Global Imports ... any chance of a gold/white one in the future?

Also love how you guys will/might be doing the shop updates, hoping the store owner will be making the announcements of new items in their shops like Josie did.

I myself was happy with the shops. I love not having to go through pages and pages just to find one item I want when I KNOW it's there ninja I can't wait for your multi-cultural updates! It seems like just yesterday I was looking through a thread about this too....sneaky artists. I wish you luck love! I know you can do it! I just wish the users would understand how difficult it is for you though :/

I hope fixing the root of the problem is the development of a free-layering system, but I won't get my hopes up. Looking forward to those ethnic/culture updates~

Hey Juno, I just wanted to stop by and tell you how much I absolutely adored the new shops and specially the Eastern update for Josie's new shop.

I do have one favor to ask of you, I noticed that often times with eastern items accents are done gold and while I know that this is traditional of many eastern items and stands out better, I absolutely hate the color T____T Do you think it's possible to one day get some recolors of some of the eastern items (from all the different sets) that have gold embroidery so that it's silver instead?

Also: More basic colors of the hakama pants would be much loved <3

Keep up the amazing work!

I, for one, have fallen in LOVE with the bakeneko sets. Even if they were meant to be demon-type cats, they are still AWESOME. Major kudos to anyone involved in the design and creation of those items!

I just have to say that I love love LOVE having a cultural shop, and having Josie as the owner is great. It's always frustrated me in the past that I'd have to go hunting through store after store to find a complete set, and that happened especially with all the cultural items. Josie's store is full of all the items that I love and use.

Great work to you and the rest of the staff! heart

That Bakeneko set is Awesome! What a great way to make Skins! I'd love to see more of these sort of Skin-items. SOO versatile it's hardly a laughing matter...lol. Thanks a bunch!

Hope your super-fix project goes well. I'll be thinking about you. Good luck! For all our sakes...lol.

Thanks so much for this wonderful update!
It's really amazing, everything's just so refreshing and beautiful!

I had a qualm with the Bakeneko layering (the Tops can't be worn at the same time as gloves and/or bracelets/wristbands), but, you've already addressed that~! Good luck in fixing it! Though with ones such as you and your team, it should be no problem at all~

Thanks again! ~Rin > w<

I think the set is lovely despite the glitches and the shops are fine but it does seem to have a large amount of already existing items in it as well. It would have been nice to have the majority of those items in those shops to be new and not old. However, the updates for the gold shops are nice. Love the new wigs as well. Great job so far and many best wishes and luck as you work out the bugs.

I'd also love to see white+gold versions of the new Chinese items, as well as color+silver versions (or something other than color+gold).

By the way -- are there Purple Dragon Silk Shoes? I haven't been able to find them -- just a mistake?

Very VERY excited about these new shops! biggrin heart

Being a very devoted Josie fan for quite some time now, I was very happy to see that not only did she get a shop, but a new look, an avatar, and now I can enjoy her new "Talk To" phrases! It's really cool seeing more development given to our NPCs, and even though Carl isn't a talking elk, I'm sure the GCD and SF will come up with some neat ideas to utilize him in the future. wink

I personally am very excited, like many others, about Global Imports. More cultural items is a really cool idea.

It may not have already been suggested, so I'll go ahead and suggest it here. We already have a bunch of cultural items, but my favorite have to be the Saris. Excellent pixel work, color choices and design. I would love to see this expanded on in the future with perhaps the groom and bride's versions of Wedding Saris.

Even in the world of japanese video games and anime we find the tribute to these beautiful clothes that can only be called art. The main heroes of Chrono Cross, the sequel to Chrono Trigger, are seen wearing Wedding Saris in a photograph in what is known as the "true" ending, seen here:

Hi Juno. Thanks for the awesome new items and shops. Especially for giving Josie a chance to shine!
As for the Bakeneko items. Would extra poses for the tops and bottoms fix the problem now? The with normal hands and feet? Or would those have the same layering and compatibility issues?

The new update made me happy! Being an owner of two calico cats.. OI am happier! However... A small problem on the Calico top. It happens with all cat tops.

It's always nice to see you in the forums. It reminds me how you're always on the lookout for for users. 4laugh
Hey, you know what'd be awsome? A wider range of colors for the wench bustiers and cinchers! Think of the options for avatars we could explore with that. But that's just my personal opinoin. (Though I have seen people share it.)

I loved the new shops we got, Juno- Josie's especially! That shop is made of so much win, it's impossibly to convey in mere words!

If at all possibly, will we be seeing some Visual Kei (and Oshare Kei) Japanese items as an update in the new shop, soon? ;_; Many people seem to want it.

As for Carl- he gives me the creeps, but i guess all the boys can't be cute bishies, can they? XD

Best of luck on your project! Go, Juno, go!

All of the Bakaneko facepaints are showing up as Head items, but every piece of cosmetics/face paint up until this point has been an Accessory. Could you please group them appropriately so I can find all my face paint options in one place? I frequently make hooded avatars, and face paints are crucial to making the shadows look realistic, so I use them a lot. I won't be able to use them that easily if I have to chase them back and forth all across my inventory tabs.

Great Update! Just wonderful job to you and your team! I was very pleased.

One thing I was wondering i you could consider was, could the shops be defaulted to the newest items first? Sorting by price is fine usually, but when new stuff is out, it's really nice to not have to change the sorting categories after each time you buy something. Plus, just like real stores, you want your newest items easily found and accessible. I think it would make the most sense to make 'Sort by Date (newest)" the default sorting for the shops. Hope you will consider it. Thanks for all your hard work as usual.

Lovely item update~! I really like this one, I've been craving for Chinese outfits and hairsticks for sooooo long now. Hope there are more hair ornaments coming up - Japanese style 'kanzashi' would be lovely. o3o <3

One glitch I found with the hair sticks - if used with the "pony-dreads" hairstyle, they layer behind the ponytail. All other hairstyles seemed to be fine.

This update was outstanding!
I really love the job you guys did with the cat
items and especially the Oriental items.
heart heart heart heart

I only have one problem, and I thought you might
want to look into it. As you'll notice,
I'm wearing the Girl's Upsweep style,
but for some reason the pretty side curls
that usually fall in front of my human ears,
fall behind the Bakaneko ears.
This makes me sad as it looks like
I'm sprouting ears from my chin! D:
Is it just a layering issue, because I noticed
it with a few other styles in the salon, or
is it something that can't be fixed? :<
I apologize in advance if this isn't the place
to alert you about this. D:

Thank you for all your hard work!

I was a little confused at first as to why we were getting new shops, if items were just getting moved around again, but it makes a lot more sense now that they're out. I'm so happy to see Josie featured a little more prominently... You know.. not shoved in the back of the housing department. It's like she went from working at Pier 1 to working at World Imports!

Also...I like Carl... >..>

Some pants/stockings/leggings/ with the Magical Mender dont layer right.
When I add on the santa baby leggings, the legs/feet of the regular avatar show without layering right with the boots

hello miss juno.

i love the bakeneko sets,

but we can't wear these items with the top and bottom of the sets:

{kicks the top off}
gloves
bracelets

{kicks the bottom off}
full dresses
shoe
leggings

would it be possible to change the layering and make them like undies so we can wear the items listed.

thank you,

LKC. =^.^'=

I love the bakaneko sets so much! They are extremely versatile. You certainly don't have to be a cat, you can be anything that's fuzzy and adorable.

Gundamu makes a good point here. I'd love to have the color of the skins minus the differently shaped paws so that shoes and accessories are possible. I know that other skins are limited, so if you've made this one limited on purpose to be fair then that's a valid reason. I can still get around their limited nature and makes thousands of new looks, so for that I'm grateful.

I've wanted a good variety of animal skins since I joined and so you make me a really happy girl. heart

Good luck with your massive glitch fix. I encounter so many on a regular basis that I don't even bother posting them all because it's too time consuming to figure out everything that I'm wearing etc. and report it here. If you can n** the problem in the bud on a large scale then that would be wonderful for you and all of us. I hope it's not too frustrating for you and all goes as predicted. biggrin

Hey, Juno!

As always, your hard work is appreciated.

However, I was wondering if the top/bottom of the baneneko skins could be adjusted to the underwear layer so we can wear bracelets at least? I want to wear the dancer cuffs with my new fur, but I can't do it without it un-equipping it. Thanks!!!

biggrin

The new items are awesome but I was just wondering, why can't the palette for the hair contain vibrant, gorgeous colors like, for example, the new skirts have? I would love red hair for my avatar but all the reds in the salon are some.. ugly... pinky purple color and I wouldn't touch them with a ten-foot pole :S
As you can tell by my avatar, I adore vibrant colors and while you keep coming out with nice hairstyles, the best-colored ones are the ones that were made post 2008.
