That day at the lake we were introduced.
He stumbled as she pulled him by the hand,
"This is Steven! He's my other brother!"
His hair was long and needed to be cut.
We locked eyes for a moment,
and something stirred in the air.
"How old are you?" I asked
"I'm 13" He said
"Really? When's your birthday?" I asked
"January 15th" he said
"No way! That's my birthday!" I said with wide eyes
"I was born on January 15th 1994!" I added
(I forget the rest of this conversation, only recalling something about him getting poison ivy so many times that he can now smell it from a close distance)
My best friend Rachel later asked what that was all about,
and i explained to her the story:
Meeting little Bobby, then Rahmia,
Meeting Big Bobby, then Steven
The time came for Rachel and I to go home,
And this is one thing i definitely remember:
"Will you be at the lake tomorrow?" I asked
"Yeah probably" he said with a smile
"Okay then" I smiled
And then Rachel and I left.
Days later, we met at the lake.
It was little Bobby, Steven, Rahmia and I
Playing in the water while Big Bobby watched (or should i say snoozed).
"Can I get a 'What What?" said little Bobby
"What What!" said Rahmia as they high five each other
I think we were playing football when they did that
And then Steven and I outplayed them
"Can I get a 'What What?" said Steven to me
"What What!" Said I as we high fived each other
"That was NOT cute" said little Bobby
Steven and I look at each other, clueless
Later Steven and I were playing football with little Bobby (for sure this time)
and I remember hanging on Steven's back,
My head resting on his shoulder
As he turns and tries to get the football from little Bobby
"Aww isn't that cute" said little Bobby
"This is really comfy" I said, blushing a little bit
"Great, now he has even MORE to tease me about" I thought
"Hey, do you guys want something from the store?" yelled Big Bobby
"I'll have some skittles!" yelled Steven
"I'll have some skittles too!" yelled me
And so we ate our skittles
"Wow my hands are all colored now!" I exclaimed
"Well what did you think would happen? Your hands are wet" said Steven
"I know that...I've just never eaten skittles with wet hands before" I said
I remember talking about Naruto with him
How Toby is actually Madara, not Obito
I remember texting his number to my phone from the lifeguard Neil's phone
I remember getting in trouble because I don't have texting on my phone
I remember the first conversation we had on the phone
It was over an hour long
Up until almost 11 at night
We'd been talking about everything and anything there is to talk about
So of course we got around to the subject:
"Are you a virgin" I asked
"Nope, I'm not" he said
"Really? You're so young!" I exclaimed
"Well needless to say, I've got experience" he said
And we talked about when and where and with whom his first experience was
And how he hadn't done it since then
"I think that it would be fun to hummanuh hummanuh with you" I said
"I'd love to hummanuh hummanuh with you" he said
"I've got a big bed" he added
"Oh really? How big is your bed?" I asked
"It's a king sized bed" he said
*blushes* "Wow, I wish i had a king sized bed, but mine's twin size" I said
It was easy to picture being in bed with him
I didn't really know why,
But I'd never really thought about being in bed with someone before.
It was a different and new picture, but I liked it
When i went upstairs to my room that night,
My mom said that I was giggling like a little girl.
I didn't know it then, but that was the beginning.
Falling in love, not even aware
Not knowing how he felt at all
I didn't know then
Just how much he can love and care.
It was all quite strange,
But little did i know,
I would become so accustomed to this,
That i could never in my life let it go.
To keep him in my life,
To have and to hold,
To be by his side
Until we're both old,
To live in a place
I can finally call home.
