Zhao and Mia Jamesson had only one son, whom they gave the name Embry. Both Zhao and Mia were middle class and neither could fire bend. His grandparents on either side could not bend either. The last fire bender in the family was from three generations before Embry. So it was very lucky that he ever developed fire bending at all.
At the age of 4 Embry exhibited his skills. His parents were thrilled and decided it would benefit him to enroll him into the fire nation academy.
