The night sky never betrays you. It’s always there to protect you in bed, and it never bores you. Tonight, the stars are dim and few. You can still see a planet by the moon, and Sagitta’s arrow struggling to point toward the big dipper. Just like my spirits, the stars struggle to shine. But no matter how dull the stars are, they’re still there; every night. The night sky is one force of nature that you can trust to the fullest, and they will never hurt you, never betray you or confuse you. You see, I thought I trusted someone; I had two years to build up that trust, and in a matter of seconds it was crushed. He stepped on it, picked it up and threw it in the trash. And when I looked at the stars tonight, I knew they felt my pain because they barely came out to greet me. One thing is for sure though; they still came out to protect me and I know they’ll be there every night whether I can see them or not. It’s amazing how you can trust every sun, planet and star in the universe, but you can’t even trust the ones who you held dearly. The sky is so vast and infinite that you wonder if it ever gets scared because it has the courage to exist; and having the courage to exist is sometimes difficult to image since existing is one of the most difficult things we must face. And people are scared to apologize, or confront one another about the littlest things. So why are we so scared to love, to hurt, to be rejected, to put yourself out there, to make mistakes, or to apologize when we’re so insignificant compared with the sky we see every night and beyond? The sky always makes amends, because the stars will always show up even when you think they won’t.
