Good Lord.
What can't I find on Gaia on which to waste time?
A few weeks ago, in a moment of boredom and self delusion, I thought I might finally take a stab at Alchemy, and seeing as Alchemist's Cache's are essential for doing anything whatsoever in that dog's breakfast of an activity, I bought a Formula for one.
As it turned out, the Cache required a ton of random Items I didn't have in order to even attempt crafting, and, rather than doing the smart thing and just selling the Formula on the MP, and wiping my hands of Alchemy once and for now (I know the saying is "once and for all", but I know myself well enough to know that I'll look at it again some time. wink ) I headed for Towns and collected trash and bugs.
Once the requisite amount of those had been collected, the only thing remaining was fish, but seeing as I had never even wet a hook on Gaia before, I needed lot's of them.
So off to Bass'ken Lake I go, Basic fishing rod and Grade F Bait in hand.
Needless to say, it didn't go well, and in pretty short order, I had bought myself one of each of the enhanced fishing rods and begun haunting the Fishing Forum, in the same way that I haunt every Forum when it's associated activity has caught my gnat-like attention.
Then, armed with my enhanced fishing rods and as informed as any newbie can be on any particular subject, I dove headlong into fishing, determined to get the fish I needed to complete my Alchemist's Cache.
Fast forward three weeks...
My required Formula Components long since acquired (and hoarded away, along with the Formula they were intended to craft rolleyes ), I'm still fishing.
And not only fishing, but embarking on a Trophy Run if you can believe it.
Again....Good Lord! rolleyes
Anyways, the pre-requisite study has been done, and I've decided that, by fishing for a couple of hours on average each day, a Bronze Trophy is within my grasp.
So far so good I guess, as of day 2, I sit firmly ensconced in 10th place (the final Trophy granting position) and for once, being a hoarder might actually be working to my advantage, as I have all the Bait I'll likely need for my run at attaining yet another Item I'll never use.
2 days and 33 Buckets down, only 28 Days and 372Buckets to go. xp
