New OC!! OMG!!!
Name: Oni-ya
"ya" is her surname.
Age: She is 540 years old. The average lifespan of her species is around 2000 years old. So, she's approx. 24 in human years.
Appearance:
She appears around 25 years old. Her skin is dark brown, with red on her fingertips, ears, and legs. Yes, the red-purple on her legs is actually her skin. Because her species of demon do not use their legs often, their legs are very sensitive and weak. Her legs also have wings a little above where the ankles would be. Her cheeks are "rosy" as well. She has four ears: two elf-like ears and two cat-like ears. She has two horns--one on each side of her head. She has three small wings. They are great for floating and flying, but not meant for great adventures. She was born with two wings, but her great grandmother gave her another right before she died (at age 2300). Her haircut is similar to that of a deathhawk, but slightly more tame and without all the extra mess (hairgel, blabla...). She has three eyebrow piercings, three ear piercings (only on one ear), and three nose piercings.
Personality and Life:
Three has been her lucky number since her great grandmother gave her a third wing. That's why her piercings are in '3's. She also has 3 scythes, but she usually only uses two. She is a killing demon, but her specific species only kills those that have done wrong to the world and the dimensions. Because of this, she is one of the sweeter demons. Sometimes, Oni-ya has to kill other demons (but never her own species) that have done wrong; and sometimes, there are wars between her species of demon and other demons. Both the male and females fight in wars. Her species' job is to kill and escort the spirits to one of the 3 underworlds.
Every now and then, Oni-ya kills the wrongfully accused. As bad as this sounds, when they find out the soul was wrongfully accused, they allow the soul to get a second chance. They get to start a new life in a completely different dimension as their past life.
Oni-ya is sweet, yet strong. She doesn't like being teased and can pack quite a punch if anyone dares to mess with her. That being said, her temper can get the best of her, although she usually tries to be as cool as possible. She gets pleasure from destroying the worst of the worst. When she's given quests to kill the most infamous of beings, she rejoices.
Because of her weak and sensitive legs, she hates putting cloth on them. That being said, you'll never see Oni-ya in pants.
Her current story:
She is a "fallen" demon. Yes, I know it sounds redundant but, here's my explanation. She is a killing demon, but her specific species only kills those that have done wrong to the world and the dimensions. Sometimes, Oni-ya has to kill other demons (but never her own species) that have done wrong; and sometimes, there are wars between her species of demon and other demons. Her species' job is to kill and escort the spirits to one of the 3 underworlds. So, basically, she was "demoted" to a non-powerful status. She had an altercation with one of her own and ended up killing them. Yes, the demon may have been doing wrong, but that is supposed to be handled by another demon species. Killing one of your own species is looked down upon as a very harsh crime. She was banned to a much worse duty rather than being killed, like other criminals are in her demonic world. She was sent to Earth, stripped bare of all that she had to deal with the death and crimes on Earth. It is said that the Planet of Earth is one of the worst places to be, as the beings that live there even destroy what is good to their own lives. Especially the humans. So, now, Oni-ya resides on Earth trying to figure out how to survive and hide from humans.
Minion:
Oni-ya's minion is named Rakaa-ya. Every person in Oni-ya's species is born with a minion. It is said that they are even with you in-utero. So, they usually think of their minion as family. The only difference is minions are born to serve the ones they were assigned to. Only the person that was born with the minion can see them. This is because there is an exact bond between the two that make them closer than anyone can be.
Other stuff:
This avatar is an idea I had for her--a ceremony to celebrate ancestors. I had to come up with some rituals, so I thought up a ceremony being fairly close to a "Dia de los Muertos" type of celebration. They gather around graveyards--which are more like catacombs for them--to give presents and respect to the deceased. After the sad part of the ceremony is over, they continue to party--with music, entertainment, and dancing--and feast alongside their ancestors. But I added something different, to make it special to her species. When the body of the deceased decays, those closest to the deceased gets bones from the body: Blood-family, nonblood-family, and close friends. Siblings usually get the rib cage, spouses usually get the skull (sometimes without the horns, sometimes without), and offspring usually get hands and phalanges (members of the species don't have toes--only fingers--and they only have 3 fingers and an opposable thumb). However, if the deceased was much closer to someone else, this may change. Oni-ya got the three fingers of her great grandmother's left hand, the clavicles of her great aunt, the right femur of her grandfather, the horn of her great uncle, and a vertabae from her great grandfather. In her species, the left side is much more cherished than the right. In this avatar, Oni-ya wears the fingers of her great grandmother on her left wrist, carries the femur bone of her grandfather--which was carved into a scythe--on her back, has the vertabrae of her great grandfather on a necklace, has the decorated horn of her great uncle placed next to her horns, and wears the carved clavicles as a headdress. The older you get, and the more death you experience, the more bones you are adorned with. Older males and females usually have robes or dresses of intertwined and interconnected bones that they make for the ceremony. These garments give respect to the dead. Babies often get very small bones given to them on a necklace. In Oni-ya's case, that's the vertabrae necklace. It is considered disrespectful to attend a death ceremony without the bone of a deceased loved one.
