Here's my idea: ghosts appear because they're bored. No one realizes this; that's where the Settlers come in. I should write a short story about one Settler named.....oh....Alex, maybe? The story would open describing how no one really believes in ghosts and that such anymore. Yet, in the yellow pages, people could still find (looking under 'Pest Control' of course) an add for getting rid of ghosts. That would be where the Settlers came in. *nod* It could totally work! Now if I can just hold on to the feel of this idea long enough to write it....
