If you have ever moved away from the parents... and are on good enough terms... you start eyeing their furniture.
For me it was a set of danish modern. A love seat and a chair... I got them. Mother even helped me make new pillow things to go on it. Foam isn't cheap! Or rather... I am really cheap. domokun
At the time I was eyeing the furniture my brain was churning the look of the apartment... the space, the floor, the flow and the wall areas. I had it all mapped out... the colors scheme worked out.... with my second/third and forth hand bits I was very picky... sweatdrop One may even have (and still can) call me a brat.
So anyway... looked good in my head. Looked decent set up... a little worn, but I'm not that much of a brat. I like worn furniture, make me feel like if I spill paint on it I won't feel so bad. <_<
Problem is my dears... looking good and comfort do NOT go hand in hand. Danish modern has many of the design aspects I love. Clean, simple, exposed structure... but it has no comfort value.
And the love seat... which I don't think I could have streached out on it after I reached the age of 4. And though I can fold up rather well... Dave, Dave is 6 foot something and it is very sad to see him to try to lay down on our Danish Modern Love Seat of no padding.

Ours is a bit nicer looking than this set... but you get the idea. Frame, pad... ouchy.
Is fine for sitting and having a cup of tea... but for more than a half hour and it starts to be a pain... literally.
But enough on the very old! Welcome the oh so very new:

Soft and comfy our new sofa is everything I could want. Clean cut, but not so much so you wouldn't feel well about putting your feet up on it. Its a corded green fabric, which is something I can live with. It has 6 legs (3 to a side) which i think is the damn coolest thing ever... (and good as the danish sofa once broke in the middle... )
Look at the arms! No ugly over stuffed furniture here, no sir! eek whee
Hope they can get it into the apartment sweatdrop wink
Oh! Anyone in the central PA area looking for a used (it was my mothers in college) set of Danish Modern? Slip covers on the pillows... a lovely green... did I mention its as good as free? It'll be near the dumpster in a week. domokun
