[It's late. Shinichi starts walking home from school, and Hitomi catches up to him. Hitomi carries an umbrella. It's been a windy day, and a thick cloudwall overhead foretells heavy rain.]

Hitomi: Hirakawa!
Shinichi: Hiriashi-san...
Hitomi: Why weren't you at the student council meeting today?
Shinichi: Um...
Hitomi: It's not like you have anything better to do, right?
Shinichi: Hiriashi-san...
Hitomi: Today was important. We were planning the Science Club's involvement in the school festival. The precipitate reaction or whatever was your idea, wasn't it?
Shinichi: That's true, but...
Hitomi: But what?
Shinichi: Couldn't you handle it yourself, Hiriashi-san? You're the Student Council president, so everything is decided by you anyway...
Hitomi(shadowed face): That doesn't mean...that doesn't mean that you're allowed to miss the meeting.
[The wind picks up and rain starts to fall.]
Hitomi(looking energetic again): You don't have an umbrella, right, Hirakawa? Just...take this one. My house is closer, and you're weak, so you should have it. [Hitomi turns to go.]
Shinichi: Hiriashi-san, I can't...!
[Thunder rumbles in the distance. Hitomi's face goes white and she stands still.]
Hitomi: Maybe I am...a little cold after all.
Shinichi: We should...um...find shelter. The gym!
[Shinichi turns to go in the direction of the school, but Hitomi doesn't follow.]
Shinichi: Hiriashi-san?
[She can't move.]
[Shinichi grabs her hand, and Hitomi's eyes refocus on his face.]
Hitomi: Hirakawa...
[She nods.]
[Gym- Shinichi struggles at the door while holding onto Hitomi with his left hand. The umbrella is on the ground because they are under an overhang and protected from the rain. The door seems to be locked, he can't open it.]
Shinichi: The music room, then...
[Lightning flashes not too far away. Hitomi flinches, then crouches with her back to the wall of the gym.]
Shinichi: Hiriashi-san...
[He joins her.]
Shinichi: I'm sorry, Hiriashi-san. I promise, I won't miss a Student Council meeting again.
[Thunder rumbles above and she trembles. Shinichi covers her ears with her hands and she leans against him. Soon Hitomi falls asleep, and Shinichi watches the storm.]
