one day a young girl dressed in a red cloak was walking home from the market with some bread. however unbeknown to her while she was away her sick bedridden mother was murdered by a terrible wolf. upon returning she knocked on the door and heard her mothers voice say "come in, the door is open". so she pushed open the door and walked inside. setting the basket she held on the table she looked at her mother lying in bed with a hood covering her face and said "mother I am hungry". her mother responded by saying " there is meat in the cupboard, help yourself." as the girl was eating the meat a cat sitting nearby said "that meat you are eating is your mothers flesh". at this the girl turned to her mother and said "the cat says I am eating your flesh mother". "throw your shoe at it" her mother replied. so the girl threw her shoe at the cat and continued to eat. when she had finished she said "mother I am thirsty" to which her mother replied "drink the wine from the pantry my dear". so the girl began to drink the wine, but as she took her first sip a bird flew to her window and said "that is your mothers blood you are drinking" the girl then turned to her mother and said "the bird at the window says I am drinking your blood mother" her mother then replied "shoo it away with your cloak dear" so the girl shooed the bird away. The girl then began to get drowsy and said "mother I feel sleepy" her mother looked at her and said"come lay beside me my dear" the girl then undressed and slipped under the covers of the bed she then stated "what big ears you have mother" "the better to hear you with my dear" said her mother "what big eyes you have mother" the girl said "the better to see you with my dear" "what sharp nails you have mother" she said "the better to hold you with" said her mother "what great fangs you have mother" "ALL THE BETTER TO EAT YOU WITH" growled the wolf, throwing back the hood and lunging for the girl devouring her with his sharp fangs. He then left the house blood dripping from his teeth and lips laughing hysterically at the foolishness and naivety of the poor humans he had just devoured.
The moral of this story? ...I am the wolf, and you are the foolish humans.
