Do you generally get along better with people of the same or opposite gender or does it really not matter? Why do you think that is?
I generally get along better with the opposite gender, mostly due to common interests and aversions. I like movies with explosions, off-color jokes, video games (I spectate, being as I am too poor for my own system), cars and general hijinks. I've never been that into shopping, fashion, "girl" movies or any of the stuff they tell you to get into growing up, so...I switched teams, behaviorally, and it's been working out great ever since.

It's a deliberately messed-up way to say "not inconvenient," because ironically no one can pronounce "convenient" in Japanese, or at least no one in my old Japanese 4 class could. This means when people call me "fuben," I am amused, because that translates to "inconvenient." Good trait in a mod, no? xd
I used to write just to get some of the stuff in my head out. It was always more of a stylistic experiment than therapy, though, and I ended up with a style professors know from thirty paces. I almost never write now because I'm too busy with straight-up academic work; it's slowed down to really "never" from "daily." Which is a nice segue into...
I am in college-- last year, whoo!-- for an English Literature major/Medieval Studies minor.

What's the internet for?
I inherited most of my kitchen stuff from my parents, and the set of dishes I have is older than I am, as is my attack blender. I've also got some shirts from high school, because my bizarre and long-standing dislike of shopping prompts me to care for things well, so I don't have to replace them.
Memes! Dirty, dirty memes. And it's really, really great for porn.

Does any song have a sentimental attachment to you? Like an, "Omg! That song was playing when I got my driver's license! I'll remember it forEVAR!" kinda thing? If so, please explain.
Blue Carolina by Alkaline Trio. I saw them when they were last in town, and met up with a friend of friends there. I'm oblivious so I figured there was nothing to it, but they played a more mellow set within their whole set, and right after this song started was a movie moment when he kissed me. It was terribly stylish, and ohmigod Isoundlikeateenager. But still, movie moment. And he's been tolerating me ever since. heart

What do you think of the ED?

ED and I had an abusive relationship when I was a dedi there, and I'm glad I ended it. It used to be a really nice forum, and was my home forum since day one, but it turned into a really closed-off, catty circle of "regs" who don't care about debate so much as they care about "chasing off" people who don't agree with them. The forum on the whole has no self-control, and I had it when a bunch of them actually blamed the mods for the fact that they flame and spam in misplaced threads. It was good, it's now bad, I have no hope for the future.
I'd like a forum for university students at this stage of the game. It'd be nice to hear about how other schools do things, discover that you're not the only one with bad professors/classmates, share funny dorm stories, and get advice on how to deal with psycho rommates/bad TAs/things like that.
Nope but I was an extraordinarily cynical child, and never really believed in anything that couldn't be proved...even Santa.

AX2k5. Shared a room with a bunch of the mods in the GhettoPortofino, had tasty pizza and milkshakes, worked the Gaia booth, went to the beach. Next year was also awesome, but in the middle of a 3-month mystery illness that had me tired all the time, while my job wasn't paying me so I was stressed to hell about money. I was a cranky assbasket. emo

If you have a favorite shade of blue, which shade is it?
I'm unaffiliated party-wise, because I think it's too dogmatic. People reward competence and rationality far less than they do stupid promises and aggressive attachment to an agenda. I don't care what you do personally or what your party is, if you perform your job well and think rationally, I am all for you.
I really like those rich, bright blues like you see in qipaos and such. They're bright without being really showy.

Stole it from Moony. I r thief. ninja
I prefer ninja, fer sure.
I'd go with the cavemen, because they're going to have more brute strength and a higher pain threshhold, plus they're used to having to fight and kill things just so they themselves don't die. Also they might be able to get the astronauts sick with crazy mad germs (Though that could cut both ways...)
I don't think so, no. I've never really noticed/cared about race; I register it in the same way I register that someone is wearing a purple shirt while someone else is wearing a green one. It's just a visual difference, really. And chances are, if I'm like that, other people are too, statistically speaking.

Hm. I'd have to say some of the late 50s-early 60s fashion, because I like the clean lines and generally classy aesthetic. I have nothing against short skirts, but seeing clothes that are tailored and leave something to the imagination would be a nice departure from hoochie denim skirts and Uggs (Dear college freshmen: I hate you, and your asses are atrocious. Blarf.)
Nope, although I think that's in part due to the fact that I live in a town that has protests long on screaming and short on effectiveness and brains.
Parenting licenses! We have too many people as it is, and too few of them grow up knowing how to be/become adults. I support a smarter society, for the individual good as well as the collective-- your kid not being able to do laundry is not doing them any kind of favor, seriously.
Those giant bug-eye face-eating sunglasses. They're ugly, but that should not annoy me the way it does. Also, really heavy midwestern accents. gonk

Pens, because I don't lke the way pencil smudges and only comes in one color.
I generally prefer well-lit rooms, but only if it's daylight. When it comes to artificial light, the less the better.
Buh?! eek Then I'd ask what they were doing, and I hope their answer would be entertaining.

If you could choose any one place to live at for one year, where would you decide to temporarily settle down and why?
Probably around Los Angeles. I'm a freak and I actually like the city, plus it's close enough to the beach that I could go at least once a week. Also, it does not snow there. Yeeessss.

Dylan Thomas. He's experimental but not overly clever with it, and I respect anyone who makes art like his out of their anger.
Anything with a good beat, really. I like bhangra music and Cuban stuff in addition to the more conventional techno or hip-hop dance music. Also, funk is great for dancing, no matter what anyone says.
I've got a "borrowed" one I wear a lot, even though it's about four sizes too big, but it's not an everyday thing.

I think it'd be neat, but unless hair colors like that were standard, it'd worry me because I'd be unemployable. Also it'd drive me nuts because so many colors would look weird/clash with it.
Soy juice! 'Cause I think that sounds neater. xd

What's your favorite day of the year? Why?
My last final, whatever day that is. it's great to feel done and to have a little time to recoup before I get back to the books again. On a more consistent note, I've always enjoyed Halloween because I think it's the most fun of holidays for everyone concerned.

What makes a friend one that you want to hang out with? Are there any certain qualities that mean more than others?
Yes! I know you won't fill up the recycle bin with beer bottles in a week, or expect anyone else to clean up all your messes or pay your massive electric bills. Plus we could sit around and whine about Gaia and watch cheesy movies all the time. whee
Intelligence. I'm not expecting conversations on classical music and history all the time-- in fact, a lot of my conversations are quite silly-- but if they can't process stuff at a certain level, it's just not very fun. Theorizing about how one would build a computer that works like a bark collar (shocks the user when they've been bad) is much more fun with just a smidge of actual computer know-how and science in it. Also, I appreciate people who aren't very judgemental, because there are no topics that "can't be touched" and no need to walk on eggshells around them; friendship should be comfortable, not like tiptoeing through a minefield.

What's the one situation/experience that has changed your view on life, if there is one? ^__^
Leaving the house. My childhood wasn't one, as such, and leaving really flipped around my concept of the world, what's okay behavior, and where I stand in the grand scheme of things. It's been irritating, but also generally positive for all it's confirmed my general suspicion/dislike of humanity (Think Dr. House).

If they taught anything in school, anything at all, what would you take a class to learn?
Sort of a jack-of-all-trades class. That's more or less what I am now-- I fix sinks, solve problems, cook dinner, whatever needs doing I do-- but I'd like to be super-good at it so I could get a job. So perhaps it's more of a class on employability? Anything to get me out of bad restaurants, really.

Jack-of-all-trades/Life class idea FTW.
Los Angeles is also FTW though you'd more than likely live in a county of or around it. Actually living in LA would be dangerous, what with the bum hovels at the street corners, shady crazy people always walking around and a semi-dangerous level of smog that always present. That and you'd be living in an apartment or condo, more or less. Moving 20 miles away, like I am, and you can get an outrageously priced house and still be within traffic distance of LA and the beach and everything else.
But yeah, now snow.... biggrin Though we did have a terrible cold-snap that froze and killed most plant life including the strawberries. That tragedy had local immigrants searching for solutions to the cold.
Huzzah for knowing some stuff about fubenkunai!
