It is easy to forget one's younger self. We live our lives constantly changing and developing and often it is easy to believe that we always were the way we currently are, but that simply is not true. I firmly believe that we are products of the environment in which we live and the smallest bump in the road or the briefest smile can greatly change a individual's thoughts, feelings, and sometimes even touch their core being. As such, who we were and who are, are often very different people.
Why the hell am I writing this? Who the hell cares? Well...you might not give a damn, but it turns out that after reading my old journal entries I realize I am a very different person in a very different place than I once was. I would never have thought that the young me and the current me were such two profoundly different people. And you know what, both of my selfs are okay. They both have/had problems, trials and tribulations. And while I must admit I am partial to my current self, you can't abandon the younger.
Our lives are not lived in a straight time line like we tend to think. While we do change and grow we still carry deep within us our younger selves. We should not forget them, for they do not forget us.
