It started with a folder.
A simple little yellow folder that was yet to be written on, until today when she was in her biology class for the 3rd day since school started.
She sat in the back row along with her buddy and soon to be buddy.
“…and so the lowest level in the food chain…”
She zoned out the teacher but continued to stare at the board until she saw shifting next to her.
“What are you doing?”
She turned around and saw the boy scribble something on her folder.
“Hi” was all it said.
She stared at him, he smiled, she attempted a smile, and turned back to the board.
And then she felt something touching her.
He’s playing with my hair…?
She pretended not to care and enjoyed the bizarre behavior coming from the boy.
Ever since then, they’ve become buddies.

On the 5th day since school started, the class learned that they were going to be separated into different classes due to the schedule error.
“…” she didn’t want to be separated from her new buddy.
The teacher called her up, and she slowly got up from her seat and dragged her feet towards him.
When she saw her new class, she sat back down.
It was his turn to go check.
“What class did you get?” he asked when he sat back down.
“Davis.”
“Me too!”
She smiled and high-fived him back.
They were to transfer to their classes immediately.
So they gathered their things, and left the room where they once met.

Over the next few days, he made it obvious he liked her.
The constant staring, the frequent touching, the intense eye contact.
But it was only biology class, and it disappointed her that it was the only class with him in it.
Soon enough, the 1st semester ended and they had to go on winter break.
2 weeks without seeing him.
2 weeks without his funny humor and idiotic jokes.
It has been 1 week and 4 days without talking to him, and on Christmas Eve when she sent a text to everyone wishing them Merry Christmas, he replied back.
She smiled.

The 2nd semester started and they both found out the entire biology class was getting a new classroom and teacher.
When they walked in through the doors, she immediately sat down next to his friend.
He had no other choice but to sit next to her since she took away his spot.
He was tense at first…
But relaxed after the 2nd day of sitting next to her.
And then they were put into groups.
She and him with his friend and her friend.
And then their friendship grew deeper.
