One year ago today my father passed away. The year has gone by so fast. It still feels like it happened only yesterday. I miss him.

It seems like the only time i actually update this journal is when it's snowing...

Yes, It's the second of may. Yes all the snow was almost gone! Yes, it's snowing again and it's not supposed to stop until saturday some time.

So i've given up completely on spring. Summer is just around the corner. We're just going to skip over spring all together. At least i hope that's the case and that we will get to have some summer. I'm almost convinced that summer will be elusive too. Maybe winter is just going to hang on until next year.

Well, it's snowing - again.

We've had one weird spring. The winter wasn't bad. It was cold. We got snow. That was okay, normal even, and then Spring started - technically it's spring but we're having the worst spring weather. It's be positively depressing, but it got me wondering. Is this the earth trying to tell us something?

So there is so much talk of global warming, and don't get me wrong i totally believe it in, but the weather we have been having - cold, snow - doesn't seem like the earth is warming up. Historically speaking, and this has no scientific credit, the earth had periods of cooling and it seemed like a recovery. Is that what's going on? Is this the earth taking matter into it's own hands? Is it saying, woah, hold up a second. I need a break from all your antics. Just chill for a minute!

On the bright side, all this snow will eventually melt and our water table will go up. Farmers wells will be full. The forest fire hazard in the region will be low. Lake Superior may see a rise in its water level. If Spring ever comes and the frost comes out of the ground, maybe it will be a good year for our farmers.

On the down side however, if things melt to fast we could have some major flooding and we haven't completely recovered from the flood last may. The anniversary of that terrible storm is coming up and what - will we still be under feet of snow? What about the seasonal workers? the contract for snow removal is over so technically there is no one to clean up the city now that we are getting hit with this snow. The police have warned people to stay in. But that's not the seasonal workers i'm talking about. We're already almost a month into our regular construction season. People want to build infrastructure and homes, but you can't in the snow. You can't pour a foundation or lay down ash-fault if there is frost.

It is quite the predicament to be in - if you ask me. And talk about shocking. The university school term is almost over. Those students are heading into their SUMMER break...not much a summer break if you have to go outside and shovel out your car just to get to your last set of exams.

Well, Mother Nature - Lady Gaia if you will - i think people are going to start to listen to your cries eventually. It just might not happen until after they finish complaining about this new round of snow that you are putting us through. I just hope people are safe from the elements. Prayers for you if you are suffering through this.

As odd as this winter has been, it has Truly been a long one. We are on the brink of an early april snow storm, and it's not like this hasn't happened before, because it has and often in Ontario history, my problem however is how strange the weather has been. On day is sunny, warm, totally spring weather and then for the five days that follow we have winter again. It's like a losing battle. Today i see bits of the garden, i see some buds on the trees and then i see that we are in for two to three days of absolute winter weather. It makes me sad and takes me away from my happy place. I think it's time to just go and curl up in bed all over again...

So I am leaving on a cruise at the end of next week. I'm really excited, but i don't really know what to expect. I'm sure it's going to be really great and i am just happy that i am getting away from the cold of winter for a while!

Man if feels like this week is dragging something feirce. I feel like it should be sunday or monday and it's only just Thursday, as in 50 minutes into Thursday. I feel like i have so many other things to get done. Hopefully tomorrow will be different.

Went to the show tonight and saw Shrek the Musical, and i have to say that i like it better then the movie. Is that terrible. I just liked how it stayed true to the movie in plot, but had original music all the way through it and all the fairy tale characters have more of a plot. I don't even want to watch the movie anymore because this musical was just whimsical and fun, the actors were great, the live band was on point, it was just an all around good time.

Shrek the Musical, you made my winter!

I swear we have entered an ice age. It's too cold to do anything! I can't even walk my dog because he doesn't want to go out there! The sun is out, which is a plus but still it's deceptive!

I'm just so over winter.
