Olden yellow
It sits on the shelf next to my bed, humming to itself. Then occasionally I'll open it and flip to a new page, or an old one, pages maturing with age but never thinning.
I flipped 10 pages back from the last time the leaf bone settled. Was it ten? I could've miscounted or something. It was the entry when I had started noticing girls, in a brutal fashion so as to speak. ... You know in those horribly cheesy nutcase stories where mad scientists used their children as experiments?
Lightning's the kindest of them all, in a twisted demented way which only we can see.
The moment I was taken from the egg centre the abyss between the sexes was distinctly evident, as far as I can recall. Or at least, my 5 year old self was bright enough to jot down i've nevar seen a girl befor
In brown too! How smart! heart And that was the whole problem! The only female species I had ever touched was a grungy old picture in the grungy old book. The grungy old book that Lightning left as a birthday present one day. And she always wore a frilly skirt. Nasty old hag, that human.
Then came the fateful day. I still giggle at it. I mean, if girls could wear jeans, bermudas, shorts, heck, boxers.
Why couldn't guys wear skirtsfrills?
Today, i saw a girl. She had nise short hair and a smile and eyes and she wor army pants. Why?
