Step Number One:
For those who haven't already figured it out, you have to start by taking over the country you currently live in. Appoint yourself ruler as fast as you can, (for example in my case, I would call myself President. Others might say say Prime Minister, Queen etc etc)
Now most would say "rule by fear and only fear" but if you do that, you're going to find yourself shot in your sleep or poisoned with arsenic. No. You have to be somewhat kind/benevolent or you'll be overthrown before you can blink.
Step Number One and a Half
For those of you who failed to complete the first step, here's another way to take over without getting yourself locked up in the asylum. Take over a smaller, poor country. So now you're talking about 3rd world countries aren't you Chancey?
Yes, my dear friend, yes I am. If you failed at taking over say a country like the USA or England, for a third world country and build yourself up from there.
Step Number Two:
Take over all economic, political, and social control over the country. Make sure your army follows your every command and those beneath you can't gain more power than you. Be sure to appeal to the majority of the population because they will be the ones who support you. Have eyes and ears in every place to make sure there are no rebel groups who are plotting against you.
I'm serious about the eyes and ear. Again, you don't you want the first time you hear about a rebel group is when they're breaking down your door and holding a bazooka to your face.
Step Number Three
Once your eyes and ears are set up, the next step is build your empire. Trade, trade trade! Take over neighboring countries by having them trade with your-now-take0over-country-and then force them to cut off all connection to their other traders. Now they have to trade with your country alone and thus, making their country yours! Continue to this until you have total control over all neighboring countries.
