INTROLyla saw the sweet light of the sun and couldn't help but let out a whoop as she ran toward the cave exit. Too long had she been in that dingy place, sure she had fun beating people but nothing was as great as the fresh air.
She lifted her chin to the sun as its' rays hit her face. A grin seeped across her face. She followed some previous Team Rocket members into that cave, she only hoped to talk to them but she had no success. They were quick and she was sure they came out this way.
The first day she saw a Team Rocket member was when she was in school. The members of the infamous corporation managed to steal her teachers' pokemon and make a get away cleanly. Everyone felt helpless from their attacks, even Officer Jenny was powerless when trying to investigate them.
In that moment she realized what she wanted, she wanted to be one of them. To hold power that no one could take away from you, to be able to do anything and be untouched. After that she started on a sleuth of villainous acts. Such as beating people up and stealing things, she had an uncanny talent on not getting caught. Her mother knew about her however, and scolded her continuously.
Eventually she wanted to become bigger, do better things then frame people and steal lunches and money. It was a perfect time too, a new batch of kids were supposed to get their animal companions in a day or so. The biggest treasure around were the creatures in the local professor's lab. Lyla couldn't help but be estatic, her plan: steal a companion and search for Team Rocket members in hopes to join them.
That night she put all the food she could carry and all the money she stole through the past couple months into her backpack. She grabbed an old t-shirt and cut off the sleeves and with a black sharpie worked a big black "R" onto the front. Holding it up she realized it wasn't the greatest but it was still readable and that was the goal. She wanted to strike fear into her enemies without a word.
Gathering the last of her supplies Lyla looked into the mirror, something was missing. She still looked like a kid. Pursing her lips she tried to think on how to change that. An idea sparked and she grabbed the sharpie for the second time and drew on her face.
It was easier than she thought, the windows were open into the building. Lyla easily scaled the outside into the lab, and when she stared at the three companion spheres she held her breath. It was supposed to be easy, just grab one, but she knew this pick was crucial. She needed to make the right choice, this would be her companion in crime.
A noise sounded behind her, turning she saw the lab assistant staring wide eyed at her. Jerking back towards the table she grabbed the middle sphere and quickly scrambled to the window again with shouts of protest following her.
Once her feet hit the ground she sprinted away into the woods. The previous day she had read reports of crime near a neighboring town claiming to be the work of Team Rocket. She knew her target.
So now she stood at the exit of the cave with her surprisingly villainously talented companion. Lyla could see the town that reported the Team Rocket mischief and she knew this is where everything will change. This will be the first step for her quest for power.
CHAPTER 1"OUCH!" Lyla yelped as she swatted away a mosquito. The night was unforgiving, it was just starting to get chilly and the bugs gravitated to anything with warmth. Turns out the only thing around was Lyla and her creature companion, Bandi. She glanced over at her companion who's eyes lifted from the ground and gave her a smile.
He had a way about him, something she knew she would like, but also dislike. He was a rebel, like her. She wanted power, a way to strike fear into anyone who crossed her path. Usually with power like that you don't have many friends, and Lyla didn't have any at the moment. That made it easy to leave her home as a criminal, but now staring at her companion she was pondering on how to be a friend.
Lyla looked him over for the millionth time. When she first released him from the pokeball he took to her immediately. He obeyed her every command and she ended up being successful in exiting the cave. Despite his seemingly loving nature, he almost bit her when she tried to return him to his pokeball. She couldn't help but chuckle, he was hardheaded and she admired that. She pushed him away though, he wanted to snuggle up next to her, and Lyla didn't. She wasn't used to cuddling.
Now the night was getting colder, and she could feel the coldness stiffen her shoulders. Bandi was shivering, but he understood that she didn't want to snuggle and he kept his distance. Giving a sigh she extended her arm,
" come here Bandi, the least we can do is keep eachother warm." within seconds he was curled up in her lap, snuggling his way into a comfortable space. Lyla couldn't help but smirk, she saw the way his eyes lit up when she asked him to come over. Maybe this wasn't so bad afterall.
