Dressed in the clean white blouse and skirt with a moon cupping a black rose in black thread sewn into the breast that was the ladies uniform, Callie bounded down the stairs and into the kitchen, curls bouncing freely around her face.
"Good morning, Callie." Luthian said over his coffee cup. His Pale blue eyes were intent on his book he was reading. Two steaming plates sat on the table, each holding half of a very yummy looking egg omelet.
Digging in eagerly Callie smiled at Luthian. "Where would my breakfast be without you?"
Luthian looked up at her and grinned. "On top of the fridge, cold cereal and milk."
Callie shuddered at the thought. "What's on the agenda for today?" she asked scooping a forkful of omelet into her mouth.
"After first hour we have a surprise assembly in the theater." Luthian said setting his book aside and picking up his fork.
Callie raised her brows at him. "If it's a surprise then how would you know about it?"
Luthian raised his brows back at her. "Because I'm so amazing." he said, face completely open.
Callie sniffed indignantly. "Vanity will be your downfall. You just watch." she said pointing her fork at him. "You'll mouth off to the headmistress and she'll eat you like an omelet." she said taking a bite for emphasis.
Luthian pouted dramatically. "I hope she doesn't. I just got new shoes and would hate to have them chewed up."
Callie giggled and ate the last bit of her omelet. "I'm off to class. And I'm not waiting for you." she said taking her plate over to the sink. "Last time I waited for you i was late and got chewed out be Professor Bailin."
"Was the reference to being chewed out a joke or just an accident?" Luthian said bringing his plate over too.
Callie shrugged and grinned. "Bit of both I guess." She said and grabbed her bag from the back of her chair. It too had the moon cupping a black rose sewn into the front.
Luthian slung his messenger bag around his shoulders and waited by the front door. "Come on Callie we're going to be late." he sighed as Callie grabbed two large oatmeal and raisin cookies from the cabinet.
"I'm coming I'm coming." she muttered and trotted to catch up with him.
"First you give me a lecture about my making you late and you slow us down." Luthian said and laughed. "Isn't that irony for you?"
Callie scowled. "No, Irony is when you expect one thing and the opposite happens." she said. "Didn't pay attention in 9th grade English I see.
Luthian grinned. "Let's just go."
Callie muttered to herself as she walked past him. "Maybe, one day you'll learn some manners."
Luthian snorted. "Maybe, just maybe."
