• As she walked through the doors to another building, she heard the voice again. This time, she looked over her shoulder and saw that Devon was trying to talk to her. She scrunched up her face, wondering why he was talking. When he smiled that crooked smile of his, her face smoothed out.
    “Sorry, what were you saying?”
“I was just saying how rude it was when girls ignore you after they got you in trouble.” He shrugged, taking what he said as a light joke. “But don’t worry about it. That’s just my first step, getting you to feel bad, and then I make you fall madly in love with me.”
Abby stared at him, wondering if it was a joke. When he smiled again, she burst out into a giggling fit.
Devon seemed pleased with himself, so he jogged a little in front of her and turned, so he’d be facing her when he talked. “What class are you going to?”
“Uh…Biology.” For a moment, she forgot that he wasn’t in a class with her. She tilted her head, smiling. “Your class is somewhere over there, huh?” She said softly, motioning to a building on her far right and his far left. She felt a little awkward with him there, and hoped that it didn’t show.
“Well, really it’s over there.” He said, jerking his hand in the other direction. “Medieval History, the most wonderful class in the world.” Devon said in a sing-song voice. He nodded, seeing that she had caught on pretty quickly. “I forgot to mention the step where I walk you to class and you kiss me in front of your classmates.”
“Not gonna happen. I’m not into that type of PDA.” She tried to smile, but she wasn’t thinking about what she just said. She was wondering if he was serious about all the stuff he was saying.
“Oh, that’s alright.” He said slowly, a smile spreading quickly onto his face. “We don’t need a Public Display of Affection. We can have a Private Display of Affection.”
Abby could feel the heat rising to her face as fast as a bolt of lightning can strike.
“Chill, chill; I was just kidding. You look cute when you blush, ya know that?” He stopped walking backwards and waited for her to catch up completely. “We’ll finish this later, don’t worry.” He smiled, reached up, brushed her cheek and started jogging towards his Medieval History
Abby stopped and watched him trot away, frozen in awe. He was so…. She couldn’t describe him. If she even tried, it wouldn’t be anywhere near good enough.
