• “Miu? Miu, can you hear me?” A woman with dark curls appeared first as I awoke. I didn’t know her, but she looked very pretty.
“She’s awake!” The woman shouted and hugged me close.
“Miu! We were so worried!” A man, now joined the woman’s side.
“Oh Miu! Don’t ever worry me like that again!” I turned my head and saw a girl my age, standing with a boy.
“Miu…” He looked a little shaken? I wonder who he was, he looked so handsome.
“Why isn’t she saying anything doctor?!” The woman next to me turned around. A man in a white doctor suite came over to me.
“Hmm, she looks fine. Miu, how do YOU feel?” Miu? Who in the world is that? Is that me? Since he’s looking at me, I guess it has to be me.
“Um…who are you people?” I asked. The woman gasped, and everyone started to have stunned expressions. Did I say something wrong? I didn’t know them right?
“How can you forget your mother?!” The woman yelled.
“Sayu calm down!” The man calmed her down, “Doc. What is wrong with our daughter?”
“Well, we did some tests, and it seems she’s suffering from temporary memory loss.”
“So you mean, she may be able to get it back?” The woman cried.
“Yes, it’s possible. Just bring her around things that can help her remember. Familiar things or places that she’s been or done.”
“Thank you doctor.” The man said.

“Do you remember anything Miu?” The woman asked as we entered her home.
“Just remember, everything here; belongs to you as well.” The man announced. I nodded shyly. To me, it felt like I was just adopted and brought to a new home. I was told these people were my parents, and that I was in an accident. I was told that I was hit by a car while running across the street. I don’t remember anything. I wish I could remember what happened.
“Miu, are you not feeling well?” The woman looked at me, she looked really stressed and worried.
“No, I’m fine. Um, where do I sleep?” I asked with a shy smile.
“Your room is upstairs. I’ll show you.” She walked me up the staircase, and the first door to the right; was where she stopped.
“This is your room Miu.” She opened the door for me, and I walked through. The room was very modern. A double bed in the corner, a dresser and long length mirror to match. There was a purple flowered rug in the middle of the room that matched the color of the walls. Some pictures of bands hung randomly.
“I’ll just let you breath for a while.” The woman said, closing the door as she left. This room was Miu’s, but it didn’t feel like mine. I sat down on the bed, sighed, and continued to look around.

“So I guess your parents will be dropping you off until you can come on your own huh? Reminds me of elementary if you ask me.” The same cute girl from yesterday came over to me after I was dropped off.
“Um yeah, I guess. Who are you again?” I asked her.
“I still can’t believe you forgot your best friend!” She pouted.
    “I’m…sorry?” I apologized.
“Hmm, it’s alright. I’ll say it once more, but that’s all. My name is Tsuzuki Meigumi! But YOU, may call me Mei! We’ve been best friends since junior high, so as you can see, I’m a little depressed that my long term BFF has forgotten all about her main frame!!!” This girl talked fast, but fierce. Was she really my best friend forever? And what the heck was a ‘main frame?’ I sighed.
“Mei, you’re very loud in the morning.” It was that boy from the hospital. He went to this school too?
“Be quiet! If you don’t like it, then just leave already.” They began to bicker.
“Mei, is that your boyfriend?” I asked innocently. It seemed that they really got along well with each other, so they might as well be going out right? But I guess they’re not? Since both of their mouths had dropped open when I asked the question.
“ARE YOU INSANE?!” They both shouted.
“Jun is like a brother to me! It would just be weird! I thought we established that along time ago. Gees, don’t you remember your own…”
“Mei.” The boy Jun interrupted as he looked at me seriously. All I could do, was stare innocently back at him.
“Jun…?” Mei looked at him with a sad expression.
“I’ll be heading to class first.” He replied, turning away and walking off. Mei looked at him, then back at me.
“I would say that was a little depressing.” She sighed.
    “I’m sorry I don’t remember.”
“Is it that you don’t remember? Or you don’t want to remember?” Mei followed Jun’s lead into the school. I followed her, since I didn’t quite remember which way my class was. I certainly didn’t want to get lost.
During class, I was said to have been smart? I looked at my grades from before and they were ranked above five. So why is it that, now I’m being picked on by the teacher for an answer; I can’t even remember that I have a brain?!
“The answer is seven.” I looked over, and it was that boy Jun.
“Thank you Mr. Kuzutani.” The teacher said. I slouched in my seat, embarrassed that I couldn’t even answer a question. In fact, I couldn’t answer a question ever since I woke up in the hospital yesterday.
“What would you like for breakfast Miu?” Adopted mother asked.
    “I’m sorry I don’t know…” I replied.
“Miu, does this picture frame look straight from where you’re standing?” Adopted father had to ask.
    “I don’t know…” I felt stupid at that time.
Even if the question seemed simple, I couldn’t answer at all. Suddenly the bell rang.
“You may be excused for lunch.” The teacher announced.
“So it seems you’ve forgotten your smarts too huh? No big deal, you’ll remember eventually.” Mei said when she came over to my desk.
“Jun.” A gorgeous girl came into the classroom. Jun stood up. She looked vaguely familiar.
“Mei, who is that girl that Jun is leaving with? Have a I met her before?”
“That’s Suzuko…we‘ve met her a couple of times. Please don’t be worried about it Miu.” Mei looked at me with a concerned expression. I’m not worried am I? I feel…like I have an issue with being insecure…?
“I’m alright, you don’t have to look so worried. Come on, let’s go eat. Where do we usually eat lunch?” I asked. Mei smiled, but it felt like she was being forced?
“Ok.” She nodded. I followed her out the door. We walked out into the courtyard, on the field; people were playing soccer. The weather was nice and sunny, we found refuge under a shaded tree.
“This is where we normally eat because well…there’s a guy I like on the soccer team here. I would usually go on about liking him, and you would say go for it! But then I would blush and say “really?” And you would say, “Yeah! Go for it!” That’s usually how it goes. But I don’t think you remember who he is.” Mei smiled, again it seemed forced.
“Well then, we should just start over in a different way. Mei, is there someone you like? You seemed distracted.” I smiled. She smiled too, and this time it was genuine.
“How could you tell?! Am I that obvious?!” She didn’t even pretend to blush.
“Oh ho-ho! Who is it? Tell me!” I asked.
“Ok ok. His name is Eiji! I really like him!”
    “Then you should tell him!”
    “Really?”
“Yeah, go for it!” We began to laugh. This felt fun, even though I don’t know what came over me. Suddenly, something hit me in the back of the head.
“Miu!!!” Mei’s voice was becoming vague. I was being consumed by the darkness once again. It felt like I was here before, but with this type of impact; why would I fall unconscious? I must be really weak. It felt like I was floating in mid-air…
“Morning Miu!” It was Mei. I remember we always met in the mornings before school.
    “Morning Meigumi!”
    “Don’t call me that!”
    “But it’s your name, ha-ha.”
“You’re so going to get it Miu!!!” I laughed at times like these.
“Miu, does this picture frame look straight from where you’re standing?” My father always asked me because he was never sure.
“Mm, push it a little more up.”
    “Like this?”
“Perfect!” I smiled with a thumbs up.
“What would you like for breakfast Mui?” Mother would always ask me after I came downstairs in the morning. I would always give her a different answer because she loved to be spontaneous sometimes. All my memories were floating back. I could visualize each one perfectly now.
“Miu, I love you.” Everything stopped. It was me and Jun. I remember, he said he loved me. It was said, that if you confessed to the one you loved when the sakura’s were in season, then you would stay in love forever. All I remembered, was that day I was so shocked, that I had told him if I could get back to him on that. Although I couldn’t have been happier, I was still in shock. Mei had told me to act fast, but I didn’t listen to her.
“…love you Suzuko.” The day of the accident. I went searching for Jun, because I finally had the courage to tell him I loved him! I wanted it to be under the same tree, so I told him to meet me. But when I got to our spot, what I saw; was Suzuko standing in my place. She confessed to Jun…and he accepted. I was hurt, I felt like an idiot for not claiming him as mine when he confessed. I just wanted the memory to be erased. I ran off, not listening for the rest. I just wanted to go home and forget everything! To forget. To not remember anything that has happened. That’s all I could think of, as I ran in the street without looking both ways. I guess…Jun really didn’t love me seriously, if he could easily accept and go out with Suzuko…

“Miu! Miu, don’t quite on me now!!! Stay away from the light!!!” I could feel someone shaking me viciously as I opened my eyes.
“Mei, will you let me go? I was unconscious, not dead.” I rolled my eyes.
    “Miu!!!” She hugged me tightly.
    “Can’t…breathe…” I said.
“Whoops, sorry…” She loosened her grip.
“Hey, I’m really sorry about hitting you with the soccer ball!” Behind Mei, stood none other than, Eiji. I looked at Mei, who was now blushing. I smiled suspiciously to her. Her eyes widened. That’s right, my memory is fully recovered. I wanted to say that, but instead I blurted out, “Eiji right? My best friend Mei here, really likes you.” Mei blushed even more and the look she gave me was like she wanted to kill me. Inside I knew I did the right thing.
“Is that true Megumi?” Eiji asked. Mei turned around stiffly.
“Yes.” It sounded like a squeak. But it made Eiji laugh.
“Then…” Oh god, now HE was blushing!!! “Would you…” Was he trying to ask her out?
“Yes, she would love to go out with you.” I answered already. If we actually waited for the whole production thing of asking out, we’d be here for a while.
“Awesome! I’ll see you later then, I need to go back to practice.” He said, waving goodbye.
“What do you think you’re doing?! It has come to me, that you have regained your memory. But you didn’t have to do that just now!” Mei yelled at me.
“When I was unconscious, a lot of things came to me. And I realized, you shouldn’t wait to ask somebody out. If you like someone, you should tell them clearly…or you’ll regret it.” I began to cry softly.
“Miu?” Mei said a sad concerned voice.

“That Jun!!! How dare he make you cry like that!!!” Mei was shouting as we made our way back to class. It was already after school, so we were getting out bags.
“Please keep this a secret between us. He doesn’t know yet.”
“But first he tells you he loves! Then he goes back and tells that wench the same thing!! You see it, and runaway crying!!! FORCING YOU TO GET HIT BY THAT CAR!!!!”
“Please calm down Mei! I don’t want anyone to hear you!” I shouldn’t have told her the story behind my hospitalization.
“I’m your best friend, I care about you is all!”
    “I know.” I smiled.
