I sit in his room and watch him sleep, knowing when he wakes that I will have to leave him. It will break my heart to do this to him, because he's everything to me. He has done nothing to deserve this, but I have to. I just want to protect him, and he's not safe with me.
It's 2:30 in the morning, and I know I need to get this over with. I gently shake his shoulder. "Davon."
"What is it?" He asks, "Do you need something?"
"I need to talk to you."
"Whats up Fae?" He asks sitting up.
"I'm moving."
"What?" he sits up.
I told him the story that everyone else has heard. "My dad's job is moving him. We're leaving tomorrow."
"Why didn't you tell me until now?" He asks.
"Because, well... this is going to sound super cheesy, but you're everything to me. I love you, and I'm sorry. My dad's job is very different from what he says it is. What he does is very dangerous, and anybody we get involved with becomes a target. I love you, and I have to leave to keep you safe." My eyes fill with tears.
"Fae...." He reaches over and pulls me into his arms, and I can't help it. I bury my face into his chest and cry. "Can't I still call you, or email you or something?"
"No.... We have to start completely over." I pull out of his arms. I can't do it. I can't touch him again, or I won't be able to leave.
"Fae." He says, and tried to grab my hand. I pull it away, and wrap my arms over my chest.
"I can't." I whisper. "I'm sorry. I'm a monster for not telling you sooner. I'm sorry. " The tears begin to burn my eyes. "I have to go. We're leaving as soon as I get home."
"Fae, it's 2:40 in the morning. At least wait til there's some sunlight."
"I can't. Dad said I have to be come by three."
I gently push him back on his pillow. I take his hand, and hold it to my face for a moment. "Sleep well." I say.
"My angel." He says as I lay his hand back down. Then I leave as part of my heart breaks and remains there with him.

I stare out the window as my dad pulls out of the driveway. We pass Davon's house. His bedroom light is on. He's staring out the window and waves as the car passes. I begin to cry. Under the pile of lies I had to tell him the beautiful love we have now dies.
As his house fades away, I murmur, "Sleep well, my angel." The last words we said to each other.
