I grabbed his hand, my own handing ensconed within his. I follow the ivory skin to the hems of his robes. My eyes glide across the flowing blackness, breezing across the rippling clothing as if it was smooth ice. My eye weaved up to his face, his small smile emphermal and insubstantial, even the glow in his eyes succumbing to the eternal darkness surrounding him. I drew him closer to me, feeling that some how he was fading away on me. This shadow being was no more real than the easter bunny. I felt like my heart was breaking in two already. His wraith like form seemed to dispell and blow away. I tried to reach out and hold him tight but alas, he slipped out between my fingers. He could not stay. He could not live. He could only exist. But why then does he defy this? Why can I feel him here? Why are you twisting the knief? I look into his deep blue eyes, the icy shield already fallen back over them. Oh how sad he looked... No. Not sad. Dead. He looks dead. This only inspired more tears to leap from me. Trying to thaw him, trying to free him from his unceasing winter. "Have... you sustained... injury?" He asked, withdrawing deep within himself. "Have... I- I... hurt... you?" He finished so softly, it was barely above a whisper. I felt his body step back, his eyes locked on the ground. He was going to slip away from me again! He was going to dissappear and steal all my light! I dove at him, chatching him around the shoulders. I felt him start to tip back. I braced for impact but it never came. He stood there, bent back but still suporting me, using me as a balance. "Don't leave. Don't take the little light I have left." I sobbed into his shoulder. I could feel the shock jolt through him. Now he staggered back. He swayed and came forward, steading me before collaspingto the ground on his knees. "Arashi noki masuhara cori... ellionanas... May the li... the light ...shine eternal..." He spoke and crumpled at my feet, more like a humbled bow than anything else. He straitened his back so he sat strait. His eyes remained impassionate and his face stoically gazing skyward. I kneeled beside him, gingerly squeezing his arm and looking at his smooth face, the flawless flow of ivory that glowed any time of day. "I don't mean that..." I try, but all my thoughts had fled. All my words, my knowledge, all my apathy. I was left with only raw emotion to convey. I ran my hand down his long pony tail, then again, undoing the hair band. His ebony locks swished out, cascading over his shoulders as he once again folded himself away. I held him tight to me, trying to say 'I'm not going. Let me lead you. Even one candle in the darkest nights can light the way.' He shivered, his body relaxing as he drifted away to the realm of dreams. And I just sat there, grateful he didn't leave. However I would have been happier if he had fallen asleep on me at home...
