In case you couldn't figure out but Anako and Rhyns are some key players in trilogy/ series. However my other favorite but rarely mentioned character is Ray Hiwatari.
With Ray the trio is completed (der.) Anako, Ray, and Rhyns all make appearences in my Rivinia Trilogy. Ray is the main character and you also get to learn more about the Blivions and Arrian and Lady Shi (She has a sister Mi.... Teehee.).
Ray is from Earth (As my little prolog mentioned) and he is joined by his compliment of soldiers. However in order to maintian being out at space as long as they have (Nearly 5 years) most of the crew is a type of suspended animation. His closest friends in the crew (And really out of the whole world) is Arrian and Mana.
Arrian holds the rank of general and Mana is but a cadet. Arrian stays in the series for pretty much the whole thing. He's a good soldier and refuses to leave his Captain (Ray) behind even after Ray resigns from the Terrian military to live an ordinary life with his girlfriend/fiance Tsuem.
Rivinia has done miracles for Ray in numerous ways. For one his life inadvertantly gets extended along with his youth (He reached the age of 47 before his body started to age to 40.), also he remained there and dabbled in various magics, also while there he back better friends with the High Templar (Rhyns) and Anako.
As a teen he did a lot of traveling and ended up settling in a little town where he met Tsuem. Tsuem is a little on the crazy side but she's dedicated to him. After graduationg from High School Ray joined the army promising Tsuem he'd come back eventually for her. Tsuem at the time was a sophmore in High School. Needless to say she has her own little adventure over the years. Though after Rivinia was found and the Blivions agreed to Terrians relocating to unsettled land were the two finally reunited.
While Ray trained at boot camp and space academie he meet Arrian who is actually only about 6 years older than he is. He only trained for two years before he made Captain and given a ship to find new land. As the log demonstrated Ray takes it hard. Not only is he thinking about Tsuem but he's thinking about the whole world.
Ray's a reluctant hero, he doesn't want to be the one doing the saving but since no one else will he'll do it. He would be more likely to put on a mask and assume a new identity so people wouldn't be praising him exactly. He's overly modest, almost to the point of being reclusive.
~Ray and Anako~
They have a very strange but strong relationship. Ray would hate Anako if Anako weren't as eloquent a speaker as he is. Despite all of Anako's honorable intentions he has has fewer qualms qith ove stepping boundries and morals. Ray will break rules but only if his beloved government refuses to step in because of their internal politics.
Ray's relationship with Anako could also be described as creepily informed stranger. Anako would call him a friend only because he trusts Ray back him up because despite their differences Ray is still loyal to the enigmatic Magi.
He meets Anako after landing on the surface of Rivinia. Anako was trailing a suspicious character up the teether that led to Ray's ship. When Anako attacks the stranger he preforms a defensive spell that renders him incapible of moving. Upon Arrian returning to check on the rest of the crew he finds a strange little man (Everything is short compared to Arrian's 7'2 built-like-a-brick-wall frame.) attacking a statue of what apearse to be Ray whom he lost sight of a while back. He attacks the little Magi and Anako releases the defensive spell after the attacker was apprehended. Upon seeing the newly animated though strangly eerie Ray he can't help but embrace him. Upon doing so he quickly figures out that the stick skinny, nearly blistering hot man is most certainly not Ray. After quickly dropping Anako he comes to realize that there a many other things he missed. While Anako was statue Arrian couldn't tell that Anako had deep steely blue eyes and somewhat longer hair and completely wrong garments (most was because of the haste in which he attacked.).
After that little mix up Arrian didn't overly trust Anako but after Anako went out of his way a couple times to save Ray he became more accepting on the mercurilous man.
~Ray and Rhyns~
Now here's a match made in heaven if there ever was one. Ray is bit homophobic and Rhyns is gay and proud of it. Rhyns has a perticular liking towards his constant guardian and occasional body guard: Anako (Another reason Ray is sometimes a little creeped out by the others is Rhyns' aparent one sided affecton.).
Rhyns respects Ray's odd view on homosexuals though he doesn't try and pretend to act strait. Rhyns will ocassional explode at Ray for being like that but afterwards appologize profusely and give him a candy bar (Rhyns doesn't know to act around Terrians.).
He shows up shortly after Anako and Ray meet. It's very brief but Anako notices him and decides it's best that Rhyns become aquanted with them (if ever) later. Rhyns quickly spots Anako (He's are to miss at 6'2" with jet black hair and cloak.) and then Ray also. He is of course confused but Anako simply wheels him away, refusing to answers any questions.
After helping durning the Great Division (One hell of a civil war.) he earns Arrian's and Ray's respect in battle. Ray gets along easily with Rhyns when he just thinks of him as some crazy constantly high person or when he simply puts the fact he's gay out of his mind. Ray often finds himself starting to say things like; "That's kindda g-... Never mind." "Only gay guys-" "I think that was a guy kissing you-... Never mind."
After the landing and relocation of the Terrians there was a lull in the wars and battles in politics where Anako, Ray and Rhyns could hang out. This is how he becomes more accepting of Rhyns (Not perticularly of all gay people though.) and Anako despite their outward seemingly fridgid relationship.
~Anako and Rhyns~
Have know eachother since the begining of time practically. Anako isn't Terrian or Rivinian. He's from a race of immortals that reborn themselves into other races when their soulmates are reborn (They're usually mortal beings because if they weren't the balance of the univers would be a bit off. By a bit I mean like heat-death-every-day off.) and was actually allowed to keep his immortal body while attenting to Rhyns. His brother (sorta brother) gave him a few gifts to ensure that he'd be able to blend into society. He was given the soul of the Pheonix of Rivina: A destructive entity that comes is a considered a divine gift to control population growth. People fear and respect the carrier of the soul. Usually the Pheonix soul only manefests it's self when it's going to wipe the lands clean however there are two times before this when it was carried but never active. Anako received a vicious internal injury before he began watching Rhyns and when he was given the pheonix soul he used that as an excuse for his physical impairment. He was also given Lorian magic. They're a race of vain but super powerful Magi that a reclusive and to leave a Lorian coven is to die. There are very few cases of exile and fewer of self exile but Anako claims that is his excuse for being a wandering Lorian.
Anako stayed by Rhyns up until what would be considered High School. After Rhyns was savagly attacked for being friends with the misborn Pheonix Anako repaired his body and took all of his memories of growing (But left him with the basics like the alphabet and stuff.) Rhyns was 20 and 22 Anako (Without) disguise attracted him strongly. After talking at (Key word At) the stern Vulcan sage he decides that he likes him and he's going to travel with him. Anako is surprised but more than happy to oblige him.
Thus how why where one is the onther is surely to be close behind. (With the exception of a 22 year period where Anako mysteriously vanishes and Ray and Rhyns grow a lot closer. Not like that you perv!)
