I have been challenged by a friend of mine to write a poem about the ocean. She made it very clear that there could be no mention of suicide, death, knives or guns. I almost got away with having an anerxic in it but she said it had to be totally happy. So I tried... and here's my sad attempt.
The roaring of the waves crashing along the rocks on the shoreline
The sweet saltiness in the air sneaks its way between my lips
Little smooth white grains get stuck between my toes
As I dance with the shells, brought in by the current, along the shoreline
Soft light, radiating down from the heavens, warms every cell from head to toe
The last song from the birds tell me I should go
But I leave with the thought
That in a world of hatrid and ugliness
God had something beautiful to show
