It is ISA time, we've completed a chemistry one and started a biology one.
We did the chemistry practical....a little while ago. A week ago maybe? I can't remember. It was a titration and I think it went okay, I did the table correctly, got some concordant results, I read the burette off properly and my average was similar to other people's averages.
We did the paper this week, I was a bit bothered because I wrote my average titre down with more decimal places than the burette can read off to...which is a bit silly >.> Mrs woods came round and tapped my average titre, and I made a distressed face. Then she went away and came back with a rubber, and left me alone. I do hope the AQA police don't read this. ONCE YOU'VE PUT SOMETHING ON THE INTERNET IT CAN NEVER BE DELETED o -o
Anyway, I think the paper went reasonable well too, but I know there are a few marks that I lost out on. And when there are so few marks, it really makes a difference if you drop a few D: It was the "how can you make the titration more accurate" question and the "what is the hazard" question. I thought about putting corrosive down, but....I dunno, I was silly and put irritant down. It was a 15M solution for crying out loud >:I
And on friday we did the biology practical. We'd only been told that we were investigating "the effect of an enzyme on a reaction" which is so vague XD In the end, it was an investigation about the digestion of lipds and we used milk and the fat source gonk My hands got so smelly, because we had to heat the milk up and shake the tubes and bright pink sour milk got all on my hands and it was so horrible waaaaaa. I washed my hands quite a bit.
Yeah, the investigation wasn't going too well for the whole class, after over 30 mins some of the contents of the tubes had yet to react and you need to do many repeats >.> And things were more dire for me because I set up the experiment wrong the first time I did it, I was right at the end then I realised I had to start all over again. OH YEAH, we had to set up our own waterbaths, which is a right pain in the arse. I suppose it isn't that difficult, but you know it's so much easier to use a fancy thermostat waterbath.
It was coming to the end of the session and I still hadn't finished when all of a sudden all of my clothes fell off the fire alarm went off. Oooooh we were mad, livid even. By the time we got back, people found to thier dismay that the test tubes had gone and done the reaction whilst we were away, the beasts! Our teacher said we were allowed as much time as we needed, so quite a few people stayed behind.
There was a problem though, because they were still fiddling about with the fire alarm, the gas was cut off and we had to wait and wait and mrs gilbank burned her hand with a flame that was hiding inside martin's bunsen, poor gilly :C So the gas turned back on, everyone did their investigation whilst I, I made another mistake. So I had to go to mr robson's room and finish off in their. I was all on my own, it was nice and peaceful and I was able to finish off C:
Tomorrow I'm going to poland.
