Second installment.
Same old same old. Just tell me if it's any good.
With the hot sun beating down on the squads backs Galihai couldn't help but notice the dark gray storm clouds blowing in from the west. The forecast was supposed to be clear weather for another week but he knew how often that panned out. His group had already done their ten mile morning run. Now it would be the intense training. Still the clouds made him feel uneasy. Thunder and lighting was one thing but since the bombings there was no lakes or rivers on the entire continent. So the cloud could be a possible cover for an aircraft carring more expiermental weapons. If it was an actual cloud it would produce acid rain that would also damage the landscape beyond further repair. Either way was not favorable.
"Men. Back to camp." Galihai comanded.
"Yes sir."
Captian Badru was also uneasy. The air seemed over statically charged. There have been three break outs of half breeds within the last month. It was very uncommon but since more pure was on Earth it was to be expected. Yet within only ten pure on the planet the result shouldn't be this high. Badru only hoped things back home were okay. It had been twenty years since he had been at home with his wife. However stabilizing earth's habitat and people had precidence over his personal relations.
"Sir, we have an abnormal reading in the upper atomosphere."
"What kind of reading?" Badru wondered. He walked over to the human who had found the reading.
"Well the reading shows high levels radiation. Similar to the ones emitted by the sun."
"Well unless the part of the sun is falling towards Earth it can't be that."
As Galihai entered the room Badru looked at him and smiled. Galihai and Badru were similar in many ways which resulted in their personality conflincts. Badru was Captain and Galihai was only a Sargeant. However Galihai was at least ten times stronger than Badru.
"Galihai will gather his men and search the area where this thing is supposed to land. Right, Galihai?"
"Yes sir." Galihai muttered under his breath as he turned to walk out towards the showers. Galihai entered the bathing room and saw his men joking about how hot it was and how long the run was. He smiled to himself briefly before heading to his locker. He pulled out his special made suit and helmet. The visor on his helmet was made to with stand bullets and nuclear radiation. His suit was strong yet flexible considering every part was meant to breath.
" Suit up. We have an anomily a hundred miles west of here."
"Of course." Nathan whined. "We just get back and we're not even in the showers yet and then we have to head back out. If it's another half breed I'm gonna punch him back to a human size."
"Yeah yeah. Knock it off and let's get going."
A hundred miles west of the base camp was a large fire ball. It went straight through the storm cloud at such speed that it completely dispearsed it. The fire ball crashed into the earth creating a massive earthquake and a crater to prove it. When Galihai was within ten miles of the crash zone it was covered by thick fog. Yet it was a thick cloud of ash that saturated the air.
"Nathan, Daniel and Isiah, check for surviors or any casualites. Derek, Sam and Matt your with me. We're going in blind so be aware of each other."
"You sure that anomily didn't burn up?" Nathan whined again only to be smacked in the arm by Daniel.
"I know your knew and all but just shut up and listen. You may not be able to sense things yet but we can. The fire ball was definitly alive and still is." Daniel was lecturing Nathan for at least the third time that day. Daniel had been active for ten years and searching for half breeds for five. He was very sensitive to feeling life. He would have been a higher rank yet he chose to only specialize in sensory skills. As Daniel continued on Nathan, Isiah started to look for life. Derek, Sam, Matt and Galihai headed straight for the contact zone.
Galihai sense seemed to be on fire. He knew the being had to be one of his own yet the power eminating was making him feel more blind than the ash cloud. He could feel Sam's and Matt's heart rate slowing down to compinsate for the energy. They were able to absorb the power easily so they didn't need to use so much of their own. Derek however was the newest amoung the group. He had actually never been in the field. He was a fugitive by human standards yet Galihai took him and let him use his skills. Derek shielded himself from the power rather than absorb it. This amount of energy would be hard to absorb with out further training. About a mile from the center the group reached the edge of the crater. The energy coming from withing the crater was even more intese than what they had been walking in before. Galihai sensed all three men struggling to take the energy.
"You three stay here. I'll go look and see what's really there. If it's one of ours I send a red light directly at you." The men nodded then collapsed on the ground. Galihai, not having to worry about his men slowing him down simply blinked and appeared next to the being. It was a trick used by the his people to travel across great distances. Yet a mile was too short of a distance and one must train themselves to stop. Galihai was shocked that he was right about the being but more shocked that the being was a female. He had not seen a Hao woman in such a long time he was stunned to find one had fallen to Earth of all places. Galihai went down to pick up the woman yet her skin burnt his through the suit. He had never met another being more powerful than himself and yet she was eminating such power in her sleep.
Galihai decided to fire the light at his men. He then picked up the woman to carry back to camp. She was small for a female Hao. Only fifteen feet tall. Galihai himself was tipping seventeen feet. Most of his men were only thirteen which was good considering they were half breeds. He felt her skin still burn his yet he had to continue to carry her the hundred miles back to base. He sensed all his men heading back to camp. They would be there within a few minutes at the rate they were running. All the excess energy had helped them and thus they moved faster. Galihai simply blinked and he was in the infirmary of the camp. Galihai blinded all the people except Badru. At that moment Badru entered the infirmry and gasped. He fell over the woman and began crying.
"She's real." Badru said stroking the girls hair.
"Excuse me sir. Do you know her? Galihai seemed a little more than confused.
"No. But she is the one."
"One..." Galihai's voiced trailed off.
"The one who has been missing."
