Hey everybody and welcome to numero... whatever nine is in spanish! XD (man, I REALLY should practice my spanish more often! I'm starting to lose the ability to speak it! o.O)
Anyways (is that even a word? :O like I care! XD) Here's number nine, featuring Song Contest Stress, my mini-rant on spring break, my CPP, THGG, and my apparent new love of acronyms! (just joking about that last one ^^ ...i think sweatdrop )
Song Contest! Cue Lights, Music, and STRESS Well, for those of you who don't know, Song Contest is an annual contest my school has in which grades 9-12 compete against each other in a singing competition. There's girls, boys, and co-ed songs. Because I'm a ninth grader, our grade only competes in the co-ed division... thank goodness XD I'm stressed enough as it is o.O So, this is the 88th Song Contest. We get scored half on our music, presentation, singing, etc. The other half is our olelo, our our language. Anyways, it's going to be on friday, and you can watch it on TV (KGMB) or you can watch the webcast online ^^ PLEASE DONT WATCH ME. D: I'm so scared I'm gonna mess up... ok, well i DO kind of want people to watch... but I'M SO NERVOUS gonk I don't wanna mess up on camera!
Here's a list of songs my class is singing, in case any of you are interested:
- Hawaii Ponoi (All 3 verses) (for those of you not from Hawaii, this is our state anthem) - Sons of Hawaii (aka our alma mater) - Imua Kamehameha! (our school fight song) - The Kamehameha March (next year we're doing the Kamehameha Waltz, it alternates years)
- Pua Ala Aumoe (This is the only song which will actually be counted in the competition. Everything else is just all of the grade levels singing together)
Well, it's not normal for the freshmen to win, but we might! biggrin *cough*YEAH RIGHT*cough* At our rehersal today (practice) the director was like "C'mon ninth grade! Who's gonna win this year?!" us:"SENIORS." director:"... -_-;;" XD seriously...
So wish me luck guys ^^ I'm a soprano 2 btw, in case anyone is interested. That's the second highest group of singers for girls o.O (soprano 1, soprano 2, alto 1, and alto 2 is the lowest)(Boys are tenor 1, tenor 2, baratone, bass). It also means I sing the melody in just about every song... yeah... wait. Why am I posting this? XD You guys aren't really interested are you? XP
Mini Rant on Spring Break! (And many other things!) YAY!!! Spring break starts as soon as song contest finishes!!! That's at... 10 pm on friday. XD HOORAY IT'S SO CLOSE!!! The only bad part is I won't see any of my friends from school D: But the good part is I get to see my bestest buds from middle school!!! biggrin YAYNESS!! I really miss you guys crying At least I get to see you soon ^^ and 2 weeks of no tests, homework, and NO MORE SONG CONTEST REHERSALS biggrin YEAH!!!! I'll finally have time to catch up on Naruto Shippuden and buy more manga >.>
CPP aka My Cutural Practitioner Project Well, for Hawaiian Culture I did a Cultural Practitioner Project, which is an activity where we connect to our hawaiian culture and stuff. My project was lei making biggrin It was... pretty fun ^^ I learned how to make 5 different styles!!! two of which are incredibly difficult and made my hands feel like they were going to FALL OFF o_e but, still fun ^^ The leis I made are an orchid kui lei (single-strand string lei); a shell hili lei (twisted), a shell wili lei (braided); a pink rose, baby's breath, and purple status haku lei (tied to a background material); and a purple rose, purple status, and baby's breath humupapa lei (sewing onto background material). The haku and humupapa were the hardest, but it was still pretty fun, I learned something new, AND they came out really pretty ^^. but MAN it HURTS YOUR HANDS LIKE CRAZY. Next time I get a homemade lei, I'm gonna be SUPER ULTRA MEGA thankful!
The Hawaiian Gaians Guild! My *looks at calender* half a year long dream is being put into motion! biggrin A guild dedicated to the Hawaiians of Gaia! Basically, the guild is for two main purposes: 1) To help gaians from hawaii meet, make friends, and talk with each other without being annoyed by those people who don't have a clue about Hawaii, and 2) To educate those people who don't have a clue about Hawaiian life (hey, someone needs to tell them people from Hawaii don't live in grass shacks!). The guild is open to anyone interested in learning and chatting ^^
OH! And here's some random info you probably care nothing about! At this moment, my favorite... drink is Vanilla Cecylon Black Tea songs are "Send Me An Angel" by Zeromancer and "Foundations" by Kate Nash classes are Keyboarding and Biology read is the poem "Does Love Sing Yesterday's Greetings?" quote is "Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking together in the same direction," by Antoine de Saint-Exupery (the author of The Little Prince). hobby is writing and listening to music.
Well, better go face the evil demon I call HOMEWORK. At least it's biology homework ^^ That's not that hard.
See you next episode! biggrin and thanks for reading! ^^ heart ninja
