Riley sat in the back of Mr. Harman's silver Grand Am. it was a decent edition, but obviously not taken care of very well, because it ran like crap. The inside was a mess as well....old McDonalds trash thrown everywhere, papers and a book or two lying misplaced across the messy floor, the middle seatbelt broken and dangeling from the back of the front passenger seat. The radio was turned off, and Riley debated in his mind if it was because of the seriousness of the situaion or just because it didn't work.There was silence ringing through the car as Mr. Harman drove and Riley and Curtis sat dazed in the backseats. They drove down Spangler Street and took a left turn onto Syswerda Drive until they reached trhe highway. Soon Riley lost track of the time as it moved so slowly, and once he got bored of counting. The twins did hadn't had time to gather thier things as Mr Harman assured them that their trip to his establishment wouldn't be as terrible as it seemed and that their mother's injuries were sure to heal quickly as the Officer Steve( As Mr. Harman had called him) had left to go back to his duties.Riley could feel his eyes getting heavy as he saw Curtis, out of the corner of his eye,start to nodd off into sleep like they would do if in History class first hour. Soon, just before Riley started to rest his head against the window and close his eyes, the car stopped and Mr. Harman turned it off. Curtis by now was asleep and Riley was beginning to follow him off to dreamland. His eyes were bearly open as he saw Mr. Harman turn around in his seat and grin when he noticed the two boys, for the most part asleep. Riley tried to open his eyes more, but he couldn't. Soon there was darkness save for one little light in the distance, and the only thing that he could hear was a soft voice. It kept repeating itself, over and over again it would say somethign that Riley couldn't make out. It was like jibberish, a foreign language unknown to man. It sounded like something you would find on the Sci-Fi channel, from an alien or some other being. It didn't make sense. Riley tried to scream but nothing came out, he tried to stand but it didn't work. He was stuck, paralyzed in his position until the far light, went out living him in utter silence and darkness. Riley started to panic as he felt his body shaking uncontroably. He shut his eyes tight then moment later woke up to find himself in his living room, Curtis at his side looking like he'd just seen a ghost, and his mom shaking him as her eyes began to water. She let him go once she noticed he awoke and sniffed back her tears.
Riley sat up off the couch and looked around, confused. "what...what's going on?"
Curtis spoke, "you, wouldn't wake up, mom was shaking you for like 10 minutes, are you alright?"
Riley looked at his mom and smiled a bit, to ensure ther that he was fine, " yeah no worries, i was just dreaming is all....i guess i havn't been getting enough sleep or anything lately." he saw his mom's concern still on her face, " you kno...school and stuff, just caught up with me a guess" he smiled again as her concern melted away into a more happy face.
She let out a sigh, then smiled"well then...you boys ready for your birthday present?"
Curtis nodded as Riley agreed.
"well then, "she continued" i'll just go get ready." she walked over the stairs and headed up them to her bedroom.
Curtis spoke next as he sat by Riley waiting for him mom upstairs. "a dream huh?"
"yeah a really weird one, i'll tell ya later though, once i can remember it all"
Curtis smiled as he went back to watching Fuse.
Riley thought to himself, it was a dream...but it felt so real.
He brushed off the thought as he sat with Curtis and watched Mest's new music video for "Take Me Away (Cried Out to Heaven)"
