Wow! It's been... *goes to check* Almost 2 months since I've posted anything! =O Oh...Em...Gee... so long! =O Anyway, I've decided to spilt this one up into... 2 or 3 parts, depending on how long each one is...

Cultural Practitioner Project Two: The Lo'i Kalo
Well, I did lei-making last quarter, so this semester my project was volenteering at a lo'i kalo, or taro patch.
It was actually a lot of fun! I couldn't actually go into the water (in keeping with tradition, the lo'i follows the kapu, or rule, that girls on their period can't step in running water) but it was cool. ^^
I was with the group planting u'ala (sweet potato) and 'awa (this plant you use to make alcohol). One of the guys there even explained in detail how to make 'awa using modern day tools, where to find it growing, and the best time to harvest it! ...is it just me, or does it seem like he wants us all to go get drunk &.& cuz that would explain the thing he said about "Well, the one we just planted will be ready for harvesting in 2 years!... so come back in two years! biggrin " ... &.& yeah...
Well, we also helped to clear the stream (though I could put my feet in the water) and there was a cute ducky biggrin I also got to learn how the stream got it's hawaiian name, and I got to hang out with some kids from school who also did the project ^^ Overall, it was a fun experience, and I'm glad I went smile
Freshmen 10k run/6 k swim...
...is something I did not participate in XD
Well, at my school, at the end of the freshmen PE program, you do either a 10k run or 6k swim (but not both... sophomores do BOTH O_O) For those of you who know me, I have a heart problem so I did not participate... I passed out water instead ^^
It was pretty fun. Afterwards we all ate plate lunches biggrin and there were prizes being given out! One of my friends, ynitsed19, got a prize for saying the date in hawaiian correctly ^^ He got a soccer ball!
Well... that's pretty much what happened. I'm scared of next year D: Doing the biathalon is going to be hard! Well, at least I can take archery next year for PE =D That'll be awesome... I get to shoot things! twisted *Ahem* yeah... sweatdrop
Texas Trip! Yee-hah... or... however you spell it ^^;;
Yeppers, I'm going to Texas to visit family and stuff ^^ So... for about 2 weeks in July I'm gonna be 5 hours ahead, time wise. Just to let everyone know. Well, I made a short list of stuff I wanna do there, so, here it is... since I really can't think of anything else to write sweatdrop
- Get smoothies from Sonic (seriously, someone tell those people to build one down here! their drinks PWN HARD)
- Get burgers from WhattaBurger (sp?) (see reason above, replace "drinks" with "burgers" wink
- Go to Animix (it's an anime con, and this is their first time =D It'll be awesome! and probably not crowded ^^)
- Visit Vic Mignogna Well, I found out Vic will be at Jump Con... sad So nevermind.
- Buy new shoes (Sneakers cost 15 bucks up there... once I got a pair of sketchers for 10! eek so... yeah. I'm gonna buy about 3 pairs of new shoes)
- Buy more clothes (yeah, clothes are cheaper too... so yeah)
- Go to this Pizza Place (they have indoor go-cart racing! biggrin and bumper cars and mini golf! It's SO AWESOME!)
- Play with my aunty's doggy ( his name is Bloo and he's absitively posolutely adorable! *SQUEE* whee )
- Buy lots of books (cheaper)
- Buy this raspberry candy that's impossible to find where I live, and eat it until I explode ^^ (well... not really XD just until I get REALLY sick of it... which will probably be... never, since I love it so much XD)
So... yeah. That's my list so far. ^^ It's gonna be a great trip! Extra great then the times I went before! (There's a secret reason WHY... but... I'm only telling my best friends first wink )
Tropical Tea Time!
